Orks, Templates, and Unit Coherency

When Pulling out casualties I have always done so in a way that keeps my unit in coherency but after doing a little research and re-reading some rules I think I may be able to get an some template relief by pulling them out of coherency. So to set the scene I have a 30 mob of boys that takes 6 wounds from a large blast template, normally I would pull out 6 models that keep the unit in coherency, instead I will pull out 6 models to get maximum spacing between them, thus pulling them out of coherency. Now being spaced out they are less susceptible to templates for the remainder of the turn.

My next turn I move the Mob up 6 inches and return them to coherency and carry on as usual. As far as I can tell there is no drawbacks for moving in and out of coherency against templates. Because My boyz mob remains fearless until it falls below 10 models I would not have to worry about failing a check and falling back without the ability to regroup.

I did a search and didn't really find anything relevant to this situation, so if you know any reason that this wouldn't work please let me know before I try busting it out and cause conflict.

Orks, Templates, and Unit Coherency

Due to wound allocation rules it's fairly common for units to lose coherency after an enemy shooting phase, but you are also able to select casualties that would cause a coherency 'problem'. The mandatory solution is that you must move back into coherency ASAP, including with your run move if it is required.

In some previous editions it was indeed required to pull casualties while maintaining coherency.

There is no such requirement in the current rules. It wouldn't work with the wound allocation rules the way they are.

Re:Orks, Templates, and Unit Coherency

With 30 Boy mobz the models are either all the same, or the heavy weapons (Big Shootas) are assault weapons anyway so moving and shooting would not be an issue. I am just looking for a way to reduce the amount of wounds my Boyz mobs take from template heavy opponents.
