And I looked around the internet (and various fourms) and I dont quite understand the process of how to be able to stock these products (though some companies provide a number on their website if you want to sell their product) and after reading some GW related horror stories im kind of wondering if it is even a good idea to bother trying to sell their product.

The thing is, getting people to buy specialist stuff, such as tabletop gaming, is hard unless there is an established group in the area.

Local store bases solely on what you said wouldn't do so well, expand your products to expand who comes into the store. Everyone who walks by the store is a potential customer, and you want them to feel welcome.

When starting up, hold events, small tourneys, and whatnot to draw people. Even offer prizes, and don't charge entry fees. I don't know if that also contains the info on being an independent retailer, but that's what I found out when I got curious.

You'll need to fill out an application to prove you are an actual store & then meet the ordering requirements that GW may have. Years ago it was a $400 minimum and blisters came in pairs - I'm sure its changed by now.

For other gaming products, you'll need a distributor like Alliance or ACD. Same process will apply - you'll need to prove your a store & set up terms. Stick with cash on delivery - last thing you want to do is get behind in payments to your supplier.
