Improving my painting

While I am usually a 40k player, I have decided for some variety I should paint some fantasy models to help improve my painting. However, never having even touched a fantasy model before I was wondering if anybody could recommend some fairly easy to paint models that could help me improve in particular my dry brushing and highlighting. They should not be in the Chaos or Ork armies as I have enough of those models to last a lifetime in 40k!

Thanks

I'd pick up a few Lizardmen. Lots of textured scales to drybrush, as well as some smooth patches of flesh, armor, and weapons on which to practice edgelining and blends.

Skaven would give you a nice range of figures. The robes and fur allow you to work on drybrushing and highlighting, while the globes, weapons etc allow you to play around with other techniques like lighting and weathering.
