Adding water directly to the paint pot

Would adding water directly into a paint pot hurt anything? I'm thinking of doing that with my P3 paints because I have a hell of a time pouring the paint out and have the excess just dry out on me.

Adding water directly to the paint pot

All my GW paints have water added to them. I don't mix my Vallejo air paints as they get mixed with the appropriate thinner before they get sprayed. Also makes mixing colours easier if you use them all "neat".

Adding water directly to the paint pot

Just make sure you don't add too much. I add water to pots a few drops at a time, shaking after each addition and rechecking the consistency. I still mix and adjust on the palette before painting, so I don't want it thinned, but there's no sense letting the paints gel in the pots.

Adding water directly to the paint pot

Once in a while I use a pallet, butI normally paint from the lid. A few drops of (clean) water from my paint brush, then stir it in the lid. It is easy enough to get just the right consistancy. Once you finished painting, close the lid and the thinned paint drips into the pot. I haven't had a paint pot dry up yet. I also don't waste the paint left on a pallet. . .

Like most things, it works fine for me so I don't bother getting more complicated.
