What I have doen is place a very poorly painted model with varnish into the cleaner and set it for one of its lowest settings.

Lukily I did not need this model.

My verdict: DO NOT ATTEMPT

It will damage the plastic, I would like to avoid chemicals, but it seems there is no other option.
There are much better ways to do this, the paint did come off, but it was slow, there is a lot of paint left, so this is ineffective.
