Awwww... No Black Templars? I say this because I'm play-testing them right now after getting a little bored with the vanilla SM dex.

I personally enjoy vanilla SMs the most though due to their fluff and the fact that the vanilla dex fits my play-style the best.

You have got to love loads of tanks and infinit infantry...its so fun. I also love how they are ordinary men who fight in a world full of super human soldiers, beasts from your nightmares, and Aliens with technology you wouldn't dream of.

Chaos Space Marines; they're the best of the best of the best. Ancient veteran Chaos Space Marines who not only turned away from the Emperor and to Chaos but thrived. While, they used to be until "Codex Spiky Marines" came out.

Still, it's a close tie with some other armies like the Orks and Tyranids.

Eldar and Dark Eldar for me. I chose Eldar simply because the primary reason I play them over Eldar has always been the fact that DE had 2x as many plastic kits.

If Eldar are relaunched primarily in plastic (and I don't mean finecast) I could see me switching to Eldar full time. Regardless of how fail their rules continue to be.

I really like the fluff of the Tau, sadly they disappoint on the table currently.

Eldar, because they just wont get old and boring (they also can be incredibly annoying to the opponent due to their mobility but most people enjoy fighting against them). Their fluff is also really enjoyable and models are few of the best which GW has ever published.

Grey Knights, Black templars. I love all the Knight themed armies, and now that grey knights have shown their darker side it's just that much better.

I love destroying Eldar, for some reason I hate eldar and their sissy ways. My favorite part is blowing them into tiny bits and feeding them to my Jokero's.

Other than that I don't really dislike any other armies. I love Death korps, Steel legion, I like Khorne and Tzeentch armies, Orks, nids, Necrons.

Probably the Tau. The Space Socialists. They seem the most 'reasonable.' Of course every race in the game is a collection of completely insane psychopaths.

I'm just speaking for me here, but I like the idea of an all-female, heavily if form-fitting armored force with big guns. I don't like the whole Inquisition thing, as it's too icky and wrong for my liking, however much sense it makes to have such an organization.

Bottom line, women in armor with guns is nice, torture is icky.

This is 40k though.

Torture is commonly practiced, by many factions.

As are other reprehensible acts.

Even the Tau, the "good" faction, see nothing wrong with throwing away the lives of allied Kroot indiscriminately as cannon fodder, or in the example I am thinking of, Tyranid fodder.

In my case it's not a particular hate, but the Inquisition essentially hijacked the SoB army in 3E (supposedly to promote the Inquisitor RPG which launched at about the same time) and didn't give it back. I like them far more in the role they actually have in the canon - meaning the Ecclesiarchy's military arm - and dislike that half of the current 'dex is filled with stuff that does not interest me, when it could have been filled with more Church fluff like the 2E book. As such, I am very lucky to see they go back to being their own army again.

I'm perfectly fine with torture, though. It's especially fitting for the Ecclesiarchy (make them repent and confess before you burn them!) - and corporeal (self-)mortification is part of a Sister's everyday penitent life.

Given that the poll does not include SoB, I'm going to give my vote to the Imperial Guard, my 2nd most favorite faction and a steadfast ally of the Emperor's most faithful during many a Crusade.

In terms of fluff?

Chaos Space Marines and the Imperial Guard.

The CSM's have a couple cool aspects to them. You have the demented insanity of the damned and the bitter traitor who fuels his fight with hatred. Far more interesting than the stiff backed loyalist SM's.

The Imperial Guard are very cool because they lend a human element to 40k that provides an anchor from which to view the universe and a reference point from which the other races can be judged. Plus, who doesn't love them some Death Korps of Krieg? Also..tanks! There's always something cool about the imagery of an army that turns the battleground into a cratered hell from which there is no escape and annihilates even the most mythical foes beneath a tide of armor, bullets, bombs, shells, bayonets and boots.

Ork fluff is also pretty cool, it mocks the rest of the fluff in a way that doesn't necessarily degrade it, but drives home its exaggeratedness and keeps the setting fresh.

In terms of playing an army?

Imperial Guard...damn I love tanks.
