Lists of Top 2 DE players in UK

According to rankingshq.com, Gaz Jones (1st Overall, although he also uses tyranids) and Stu Robertson (4th Overall, best general for Dark Eldar) are the top two dark eldar players in the United Kingdom. I found their lists posted and was quite surprised at how different they are from the lists that are commonly used in the US and Canada. The UK seems to be using webways a lot more. A post by stu on another forum indicated he would be incorporating them into his list soon. I will post the two lists here for the interest of all Dakkites:

Stuart Robertson Dark Eldar 40k Masters 2010 1750pts

HQ 1: Baron Sathonyx
HQ 2: Haemonculi, Shatter Shard

Elite 1: 5 Incubi

Troops 1: 5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades, Hek, Agoniser
Troops 2: 5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades, Hek, Agoniser
Troops 3: 5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades, Hek, Agoniser
Troops 4: 3 Wracks
Troops 5: 3 Wracks
Troops 6: 20 Hellions

Heavy Support 1: Ravager, Flickerfield
Heavy Support 2: Ravager, Flickerfield
Heavy Support 3: Void Raven, 3 Shatter Missiles, Toxin Missile , Flickerfield

Transport 1: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Transports Troop 1
Transport 2: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Transports Troop 2
Transport 3: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Transports Troop 3
Transport 4: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Grisly Trophies, Transports Troop 4
Transport 5: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Transports Troop 5
Transport 6: Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Transports Elite 1

[TOTAL POINTS – 1,750]

Gaz Jones Dark Eldar 40k Masters 2010 1750pts

HQ 1.1: Haemonculi, Webway Portal
HQ 1.2: Haemonculi, Webway Portal
HQ 1.3: Haemonculi, Webway Portal
HQ 2.1: Haemonculi
HQ 2.2: Haemonculi
HQ 2.2: Haemonculi

Elite 1: 9 Incubi
Elite 2: 3 Kabalite Trueborn, 2 Dark Lances
Elite 3: 3 Kabalite Trueborn, 2 Dark Lances

Troops 1: 10 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Troops 2: 10 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Troops 3: 10 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Troops 4: 3 Wracks
Troops 5: 3 Wracks
Troops 6: 3 Wracks

Heavy Support 1: Ravager, Grisly Trophies
Heavy Support 2: Ravager, Grisly Trophies
Heavy Support 3: Ravager, Grisly Trophies

Transport 1: Raider, Grisly Trophies, Transports Troop 4
Transport 2: Raider, Grisly Trophies, Transports Troop 5
Transport 3: Raider, Grisly Trophies, Transports Troop 6

[TOTAL POINTS – 1,750]

Guess Stuart hasn't had to play against alot of mech list, as it looks like lance heavy Mech DE list would have its way with his list, Gaz as well seems like it would suffer against a mech DE list, and badly at that...

Re:Lists of Top 2 DE players in UK

Yeah... I don't get it. I don't know how these lists would work. Initially I thought the 3x wrack squads were there so that an IC could jack their pain token and then they could hang out in back together and maybe score on a rear objective, but....there's really not enough room in the transports for such shennanigans.

If this was just some list that got posted, I'd probably offer several changes, but maybe I'm just not understanding how they're supposed to work

Re:Lists of Top 2 DE players in UK

It seems to me that with gaz's list you are throwing the 3 lots of wracks plus haemys at the enemy turn one. You then deploy all 3 WWP on T2 and all your CC starts to come in using them from reserve. This is backed up by the firepower on the board. Having the troops reserved keeps them from being jibbed early in objectives games.

I'm new to Dark Eldar so these lists are at least interesting to see how they work.

I think the Wracks are cheap objective scoring units while the Hellions make a possible a moving shield for the Venoms behind.

Second list the Haemonculus I think will split up (can they do that?) and join units to give pain tokens, but only can join the Incubi and Trueborn as I suspect the Wytches will be in a Raider. Though I really think the transports will start empty and everything come on the board via web way portal while the transports just act to add dark lances.

Lists of Top 2 DE players in UK

The metagame must be pretty different in the UK than in Canada/USA. The first list has, not counting Haywire Grenades, eight anti-tank weapons. That's enough to, on average, get about one roll on the glance/pen chart after cover saves each turn. The second list has 16, which I think is barely enough for 1750 points.

Obviously, they're doing well over there with these lists. I wonder if the heavily mechanized lists prevalent on this side of the pond are as common in merry old England....

They usually revolve around wargear spam like veterans in chimera spam, psycannon spam, razorback spam, this spam, that spam. Also, all of them always seem to be built around a map is completely barren with no cover where all units will be able to fire but deal mathhammer damage.

Phototoxin wrote:Wracks = cheap tough access to a transport?
Also in the UK games are typically 1000-1750 whereas in the US its 1500-2250 which makes a big difference

Hahahaha oh why am I not suprised.

That's what 500 points more looks like, people.

Absolutely great. Lol. I was always wondering why they play at higher pt levels in the States.
