Necron Army 2000 points

I don't play too many games, and my friends and I play casually, but as I play Necrons, and my friends play Orks, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, and Blood Angels, I seem to lose a lot. I'd like some recommendations for my army. Here is the list I use now:

Lord, Resurrection Orb, Veil of Darkness- 200 pts

Deciever- 300 pts

Warriors x10- 180 pts
Warriors x10- 180 pts

Destroyers x5- 250 pts
Destroyers x5- 250 pts
Scarab Swarms x10, Disruption Fields x10- 160 pts

Monolith- 235 pts
Monolith- 235 pts

Any tips or advice would help.

You don't really have enough normal Necrons (lord/warriors/destroyers), since your enemy only has to kill 24 warriors for the whole 2000pt army to disappear.

Perhaps try this:

Lord, Resurrection Orb, Veil of Darkness

Warriors x10
Warriors x10
Warriors x10

Destroyers x6
Destroyers x5
Destroyers x5

Monolith
Monolith

Total - 2010pts

In this version, your enemies will have to kill 36 Necrons (lord/warriors/destroyers) before your army disappears. I hope that helps.

P.S. There is going to be new Necron stuff soon, so there might be completely different advice in a few months time...

Necron Army 2000 points

you can only have squads of destroyers up to 5.

as it stands I run a list at 2000 almost point for point the same and I've had great results with the list. You may need to just think through your tactics a bit differently as opposed to changing your list.

with that 2000 point list I'd use the liths as a screen to block what my opponent could get through with ease while shooting up his flank and side armor with the destroyers.

to help deviate phase out I would normally keep one full unit of warriors in reserve that will walk on later where they will help most without dying.

I would use the deciever as a counter assault unit. waiting for the inevitable attempted assault.

If you were going against blood angels I would assault the sqaud with the priest and target him since he has I.C. normally I wouldn't attack the I.C. but in this case killing him off makes all his marines much more easy to kill in your shooting and you can leave combat at the start of your opponents assault before blows are struck.

Orks I would use my destroyers to crunch any vehicles he had while using my monolith screen to block the sum of his units from early assaults while using gauss flux arcs to shoot at every unit within 12" with both liths.

Re:Necron Army 2000 points

@Xerxes23

I only own 10 destroyers, so i've never been able to do the 3 squads of 5. Hopefully my friends will let me use my heavy destroyers and spyders to sub in for em. Also, the new army is close, but too far away for now. My friends are gonna be playing more in the summer, which is earlier than that release.

@hollowmirror

I'm glad you have more luck. Most games against the orks end by turn 3, not because of phase out, but on turn 2 he moves his units 26" (12" trukk movement, 2" disembark, 6" waaagh, and then the 6" assault) which always allows his units to get around the monolith blockades and assaults all my warriors/destroyers. The BA puts all his units in drop pods and forces me to phase out by assault. My friends and I play all our games as pitched battles, with points to capture, and almost no terrain, which means no cover and straight lanes for assault. In fact, once DE got released, they have been playing all games without cover and the whole field is a road, allowing vehicles to move 18" instead of 12". It's safe to say that I wasn't present during this decision.

well I don't know about playing with no terrain that's certainly an issue but making the whole field road? thats way to much. that puts a lot of emphasis on mech where mech really doesn't need anymore help being a pain.

You may do well to ask to play some games without road and some terrain. It could really change the way things play out.

also against your friends orks, you should definately target his trukks on turn one with your destroyers. they're pretty darn easy to break with destroyers since they're open topped and where I play I usually don't even see them armed with guns.

basically when it comes to an ork trukk if you've got even a 3+ on the damage table you've eliminated the purpose of the trukk and they'll need to get out reducing their movement quite a bit.

My friend runs a very similar list. The only tips I would give you are keep your warriors in reserve. You might want to also look into putting your Necron with a squad of Immortals and Veil around the bored shooting stuff. Its really annoying, believe me.
