Games Day Chicago

Anyone else have the chance to go to games-day in Chicago this past weekend?

A few members of our club got to go and we had a blast! It had beena few years since I had the chance to go and I quickly remembered what I was missing. For those of you who haven't seen it the new game "Space Marine" by THQ looks amazing, plays amazing! I'm for sure getting a copy when it releases!

The tables, as always, were freak'n sweet! I especially like the "Heros of Armageddon", well done to those guys! Got a chance to do some forge world talk with Will Hayes, that was a treat! Ran into Jes Goodwin who drop'd a hint that the Eldar might have something special (model wise) in the works. I'd say new Wraith Guard but thats just me.

I got my interest peaked by Mordheim, its much less constrained than fantasy and has a good sense of character to it. I'm a fan for sure, good job to the guy running the table! It was good to see GW showing some love to the Specialist games.

I missed out on the big super heavy battle, much to my dismay but I got a chance to shoot the crap out of one of my friend's who foolishly took the ork's side of the table directly across from this vet guard play in the 40k "big game". I soundly won 5 "vehicle kills" for the Emperor, which was the objective at the point. "Take that ork scum!"

The Armies on parade were as awesome as ever! Especially the "artillery train of Nuln" which I've got to give major props!

The forge world games-day model, a mark 3 "boarding Marine" looked epic, I got two.... the guy right behind me in line got twenty lol! Also the upcoming dreadnaughts look amazing. Forge world has some good stuff in the works for sure!

After games-day, and with a very bad hangover, our group went to the Battle bunker where we met The chief web designer Jim (Who's last name I've forgot, If you reading this man I'm super sorry : P) We must have spent a good hour just talking hobby stuff and then we were treat to another hour's worth of conversation with Adam Troke..... Who is a big guy in person btw, do not fight him!
It was refreshing to talk to the designers and find out they love the hobby as much as we do. We shared stories of beating our friends to pulp and breaking models... in some cases entire armies at a time. Mr. Troke was surprisingly interested in our opinions on the game, what we thought needed work and what we would like to see in the future. In some ways talking with him and Dan restored a little bit of my faith in games-workshop and despite the many issues we all get on here and cry about daily there are people who love the hobby working to try and make the game continuously better.

I hope to meet both these fine gentlemen again and I'm looking forward to games-day next year!
