Strata's Imperial Guard Blog.

Hey my fellow dakkaites, this is going to be my blog spot for everything imperial guard. For both my Death Korps that im currently working on, and anything else in the future. Where i currently stand though, is at 1500 points of DKoK, that, due to budgeting, i can't really afford to flush out any larger. Thus, this is where ill be turning and converting my own regement in addition to my Krieg stuff. Here in i hit on my first question to all of you out here, I have several thoughts as to how i could go about this, so i want to put it out to you and get some feedback.

My first thought, Basing off the Mordant Acid Dogs. They would have minimal flak armor, mostly shoulder pads, with afew sprinkles of armor over the chest. Mostly bare arms, afew with helmets, some without. And possibly rebreathers. Though, im not too keen on the arms that the Catachan have, i think thats alittle too big, does anyone know, are the arms out of the catachan command box any better proportioned/slimmer?

Seccond Would be more body armor, full body coverage. I was concidering everyone with great coats, Or, only the sargents of each squad. I'd convert the cadian shoulder pads to something that looked different. Everyone with helmets, and more then likely rebreathers too.

I dont have a third idea past those really, anyone want to contribute? Oh and also, what ever i do end up going with, they will all be using custom lasguns, as below.. once i get off my lazy rump and get to working on them with the spare bits i have.

Re:Strata's Imperial Guard Blog.

So you want a regiment that are kitted out for hostile enviroments then? There's plenty of Savlar Chem Dog's armys out there that you may want to look at (just check out google images). If you want bare arms that are a little slimmer than the Catachan ones then you could go for the Empire Zealots box (I think there's ten sets per box, as are there disheveled heads. You could use the bodies for Penal Legionares, Conscripts, or Psykers), though it probably would be better to just go for the cadian arms to save the hassle (Mordant regiments use Cadian equiptment as standard). Gas masks are easy to make if your using the Cadian heads (google images; Gas masks Imperial Guard), or there's plenty of sites out there that sell seperate heads with them (just remember that Mordant's would have goggles or other protective eyewear even without the has masks, due to them living in low light conditions-though they don't actually have to wear them).

For that lasgun idea you'd probably want to start out with the Catchan Lasguns rather than the Cadian ones just for ease. Alternatively you could go for Autoguns (everyone loves autoguns), shaving down the front of the body of the lasgun just before the ammunition clip and cutting off the sights to make a more AK-74 looking gun, or just using real world weapons (Hasslefree Miniatures has a wide range of miniatures guns).

Oh yeah, and shameless self premotion... This is what my own hazordous enviroment Guard regiment look like. The plate armour would fit in with the Death Korp's own carapace armour, but they look different enough to know that they're anoyher regiment.^^
