'HELLDIVERS' a science-fiction RPG: interest thread. NOT LAUNCHING FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS

first of all, I would like to say that Theo Stylianides is one of the best artists out there.

ironicly, when I was but nine years old, I created this universe from scratch and imagination, many a happy afternoon was spent pumping 50. cal rounds into large fish-men. I named the main characters of this game, 'Helldivers' based on what they did. dove into hell. I had created this universe, as well as several stories surrounding it by now. when I decided it was time to share my creation with the world, after I wrote up 'HFIH, I went looking for images, I was dumbfounded that the best ones I could find were also called 'Helldivers' and so, I used them for reference pictures. I am in no way connected with Theo's great artwork of his own universe that was named such, now. let us begin.

‘HEADFIRST INTO HADES’
In august of 1989, VOYAGER PROBE flew past the planet Neptune and transmitted pictures to NASA. They saw what seemed to be a world of blue. They were intrigued by this, and launched far more sophisticated probes over time. By the year 1999 they had found conclusive evidence that supported their first theory.
Neptune was livable.

Before this information reached the president, it was immidetly intercepted by the as of yet unknown THIRD ECHELON which submitted it to the true power in the US: USIRB, or United States Interplantary Research Bureau. A top-secret organization even more guarded and secretive than the CIA.
This organization was dedicated to finding worlds that could support life beyond Earth. Not even the president was aware of them. They decided to not let it on to the public, as this would compromise their existence, they feared this would also cause another space race, to Neptune, one which America may not have won, or triggered another World War.
They kept it secret but launched hundreds of experimental probe rovers to the planet. Upon seeing the data they received, they were dumbfounded. Neptune had not only breathable air, but a fully water-based ocean as well. What disturbed them was that the oceans were utterly hostile. Containing not only lush tropical islands filled to the brim with brutal predators, but shadowy depths, that none could fathom.
When they finally announced this to the public, the year was 2018, they were right at first. There was mass-hysteria, people attempting to home-make ships for space travel, nutcases predicting ‘little green men’ and even mass riots. The most outspoken were the religious radicalists, who claimed that only earth was divine and livable, several even destroyed a probe-construct in launch, these individuals ‘disappeared’.

I n 2024 the USIRB prepared their first manned mission to Neptune, consisting of the massive EARTH’S HAND a spacecraft the size of five aircraft carriers, and propelled by prototype cold-fusion engines, allowing it to reach Neptune in a single earth year.
Sadly, it seemed humanity was imprisoned in their solar system. Their solar Oort Coud preventing any escape, until some method of breaking through weeks of asteroids could be discovered.
The mission was crewed by almost 500 men and women. They were mainly scientists, who were willing to risk their life’s for a chance at this.
By 2027, the mission had arrived. Sending back images from orbit, of planet like so our own, but so alien. The first shuttles landed on desert islands, they documented the massive sweeping storms, as well as the EYE OF TERROR a massive storm hundreds of thousands of miles in length, that could be seen from high orbit at a glance. They documented the Fauna of the seas, and the Flora of the islands mainly, as well as the auquaflora.
It would not be long till the true dangers of Neptune were revealed. The only two ships on the flight, PTBRs had to be assembled on the surface via the STANDARED TEMPLATE CONSTRUCT a quick and easy way to assemble anything from a AR-16, to a PTBR. When they set out they had divers document the fantastic aquafauna, creatures such as the Sonic Shrimp, and the Lampreel. Their first disappearances was when a diver went missing, after going several hundred meters down. He was not seen for three days. Until the chewed up remains of a wetsuit washed up on the island that was serving as a base, deemed Peter’s Gate.
They quickly submitted these findings, along with the request for underwater firearms to Washington, the seas were deemed dangerous enough to warrant this, and a group of 40 navy SEALS were sent to aid them, armed with APRs or, Aquatic Performance Rifles. They had just finished celebrating their one month anniversary, when all hell was unleashed.
Raging storms covered the planet from whitecaps to the upper atmosphere. Rain pounded Peter’s Gate station, and the humans were forced to flee into orbit.
They submitted these findings and did some detailed research on the biosphere. As it turned out, the planet was subject to these storms for 11 months a year, and thus, above water settlements were out of the question.
USIRB the n launched the ISTH, or Interplanetery Subaquatic Terrestrial Habitat.
In 2039 the ISTH made planetfall. It was a once-use city, the size of DC, and ad taken over six years to build in orbit.
When it struck the water, it used maneuvering jets to land it on the plains of sand below the waves. Where sunlight still reached, due the non-salt nature, of Neptune, as well as its Heyperreflective black moon not able to be seen from earth: Sartoris. That channeled the sun’s rays directly to the ocean depths.
When the sand had settled, a ten-foot-thick dome of transparent steel, made with an alloy found on mars, and known as Dectium, was resting over the unnamed city. Several scouting trips into the abyss later, proved that these oceans were indeed hostile. Filed with as many massive predators as an author could think of and more, they were the wonder of Earth, and video feeds sent to Earth were played over and over again by the news stations. Then, the Snakeheads appeared.
The beings were right out of a lovcraftian horror, massive bipedal fish-men, with a visage so hideous, it literally caused Earths Eye city (the name of the ISTH) to enter lockdown for a week.
The beings had evidently originated as reptiles, living on the surface, but driven under the waves by whatever catalyst created the storms.
They were akin to lungfish, as well as stonefish, anglers and snakeheads. They used water-adapted tools, as well as sheer brute strength to fling specially made spears, shoot aquatic bows and arrows, and use axlike blades.

At first, the humans wondered how they used such things with ease underwater, but then connected the dots. the Neptunian water was far less heavy than Earth’s and the heavy gravity pulled creatures not equipped with a gaseous bladder down and into a bipedal or quadruped state. These ‘Aquabipeds’ as they were called, were usually immensely strong to boot.
The oceans of Neptune were light enough that a human could run at a decent speed through them, and only feel as I he was walking into a stiff breeze. And tracked and wheeled vehicles could traverse them with ease.
Now, forty years later, the ocean is still at war with the humans invaders, who have constructed thousands of bases spanning the explored parts of the ocean.
Detachments of NATO spec ops, US Rangers, SEALS, Marines, British SAS, and even a contingent of Russian Spetsnaz troops now man the posts, and wage their war with the Snakeheads…these men are know collectively as ‘Helldivers’

as a roleplayer, you will be a Helldiver, journeying to the watery depths of Neptune and back, and a narrative storyline will be shaped.

there are four factions, each with their own goals. more will be revealed later.

NATO: come on, we all know.

NMC: Neptunian Mining Committee, this is a faction dedicated to mining the oceans of neptune for anything and everything valuable, it focuses it's troops on heavy hitting, it sometimes clashes with the other powers in violent skirmishes

BN : the pirates of the Black Nova are ruthless, cruel and cold, they take what the want, and kill anybody in their way. these men have shrugged off the responsibility to earths science and recourses over personal gain, leeching off of all factions. their units are varied

ISRAF: Intra-Solar Revolution Armed Forces. these men attempted to succeed from NATO, by making their own settlements on neptune. not much is known about them.

CLASSES: this will not be filled out intil I can get every single class down here, Ie. not in a while.

for the time being I just want opinions.

THIS RP DOES NOT START FOR A WHILE.

EXAMPLE CLASS: NATO 'STANDARD'

Wardiver:
(Ws: 4)
The Jack-Of-All-Trades infantryman, the Wardiver is housed in a suit of medium ‘Carjack’ armor. They are usually sent on any mission, and can be drawn from any ethnicity. Their weapon constitutes a 50. Action express batlecannon “Kraken” which fires the heavy shots from a 40-round magzine, on earth, these troops are some of the most feared on the battlefield. But on the alien world of Neptune, they are simply average. Like all weapons adapted for Neptunian service, the Kraken uses a contained reaction, causing the water-resistant blasts that propel the shots to be a light red color, making them not as good for night ops. Though they have been known to be issued other weapons for other missions. The Kraken has a secondary underslung revolving anti-personal grenade launcher for emergencies.
