I was think of taking the magnetic sheets the GF9 sells, (http://www.gf9.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=38&products_id=206) and using those to put down, paint and the base. Question though was wondering if anyone knows how well they paint, and how well they can be based, with out effecting the magnetics.

They are very strong magnets so you don't need one on each end, thus using bits of metal will save you money (copper, aluminum , tin and some stainless steels won't work).

Magnetic tape/sheets is rubbish.
