UnluckyGuardsman here. Over the past few days, I've been throwing an idea around. It's roughly ready, so I figured I might float it out there and see what you all think.
Recently, over on FTW, a weekly "Best Of" has been started, where the best content is thrown together in one post with links. I think that something similar could work on Dakka. The system would go something like this:

1) Every week, people who see an interesting/enlightening/helpful/epic topic send me (or whoever is in charge) a link to the thread/post. These can be from any of the forums that deal with wargaming. (To be considered, threads must be unlocked an have an update withing the last week or so). I'm not including off topic threads in this, because that content is not something I think fits with the theme. Not knocking the OT forum, but this is just my opinion.

2) I go through my PMs, and sort out those threads that are most commonly sent to me (community consensus). I'm thinking about 10 or so threads, representing the P&M forums, and at least one from the three major games. (Fantasy, 40k, Warmachine/Hordes) that gives a good amount of content without going overboard and crowding people with information.

3) Once a week, I set out a Best Of post for the week, in this forum, appropriately dated and labeled. Whoever happens to be writing it that week(more on that in a sec) can also include a "Writer's Choice" for the week, just a a little aside. The good people of dakka can then have direct access to the best content from that week, as proposed by their peers. This also makes it easier for casual browsers/new users to get started on the forums.

There's a rough timeline, let me know what you think. As for the actual writing, I'd be happy to head this up. However, life can get busy, and I know I will miss a few weeks. I'd love to get a rotation going of 3+ writers, each taking a week in a rotation to make things easier. The problem there would be communication and confusion, which might not end so well. Let me know if you'd be willing to help!

Now, I know there is a little bit of an overlap with the new "exalt" feature. However, this would work as a more current version of the exalt feature (which is retroactive to 2 weeks, I think).

I'd love to get this started in the next few weeks, if there seems to be a good base of people who would be willing to provide the content. There's a lot of good stuff out there, and this will only make it easier to see.
