I've recently been getting back in to GW specifically 40k (and marines), and after my time out the price of GW paints has definitely risen!

A lot of what I've seen online seems to suggest the Vallejo paints are a great alternative, can anyone suggest a good starting set to get based on this? I've had a look round and I know it's all about assembling the paints you need as you go, but they seem to have a lot of ranges and I wondered if someone knew a good box set to start with.

The model color range is superior. In color choice and formula VMC is a solid range. Thewarstore sells starter packs flip through them and find a color set that looks like it has most or all of what your need. VMC Flat Black is especially better than Chaos Black. I would suggest you dont restrict yourself to any one range of paints.
