Aurelian- Black Library Fail

After Black Library offers a limited edition book in the million selling Horus Heresy series that quickly sells out and bogs down thier website what do they do. The hype Aurelian as the must have book with a very limited quantity available. So what happens as they hype the release, apperently know one ask can our online ordering system handle the anticipated volume. So the system crashes minutes before the planned release. Not many companies can claim responsibility for planning a denial of service attack on thier own website. Black Library (GW) know have that honor. Worse rather than shut the server down they give the impression that all our tech people went home and we can't do anything. Major failure guys

Re:Aurelian- Black Library Fail

i've worked in a few companies that staged their own denial of service attacks and other hacks into their own networks, but that was all from an IT security standpoint and always on a weekend of limited need of the sites and network.

On the topic of the book itself it really bums me out when they have limited releases like this, since it will inevitably mean i miss out on pieces of the story that i find so interesting it makes me just want to drop the whole series and not bother with it anymore.

I completely missed the fact that this was going on sale, same with the last novella.

Even though I missed my chance to get a copy of Promethian Sun from BL i was able to get a new one from eBay, can't remember what I paid but it wasn't much more than what BL were selling it for.

Not sure if I should try to buy from BL this time (once their servers come back) or just wait and try my luck on ebay

Come back when they reach the level of Hasbro: they have it happen EVERY SINGLE YEAR after San Diego Comic Con when their left over stock of exclusives go up for sale on their store and have yet to do anything about it, despite having it occur anually.

Aurelian- Black Library Fail

This really isn't that big of a deal... hell, this happened to Apple, it happened to WoW... it happens all the time.

I'm sure you want the book, and that's fine and I'm not criticizing that: in fact I hope you get your book, but this really is a common occurrence. They just didn't know how popular it would be. That is all.
