Best Primer?

Ok Ive probably bought about $50.00 U.S. in primer. Ive tryed krylon primer and the plastic bonding, modle masters primer from the hobby shop, and the cheapo paint from walmart. All of them seam to have their downfalls. the krylon primer leaves a bumpy coat of paint, the plastic bonding stuff dosnt paint well although it is super smooth, and the modle masters stuff rubbs off. The walamart brand is drying right now but I did notice that it will fill in detail with paint if you are not super carefull... So what do you guys use ?

Re:Best Primer?

The last black primer I used was Army Painter's, but it seemed pretty thick. That could just be a perception or my own overspraying, though. I've had good results from Armory's gray primer lately, and Army Painter's white primer went on nicely.

Best Primer?

I used to use Krylon primer and plastic Rustoleum, now I'm using Duplicolor Sandable primer, both black and white. It goes on great on any material including Finecast, it should be easy to find as well.

Best Primer?

I've tried a few primers and a flat black. The best primers I've used are my automotive primers though. the durability is top notch and can handle weather and temp great. My car is actually half painted with the stuff right now. The autozone touch n go primer has been my favorite of the bunch

Best Primer?

I recently picked up a bottle of black acrylic polyurethane primer from Vallejo.
I am completely sold on this stuff! I used my airbrush to prime an ork battlewagon and the results are simply great, way better than I achieved with any spraycan before.

You should also be able to brush it on, but the result will probably be less good.

Great additional benefit: I can spray inside and don't have to care much about humidity and temperature anymore.

So especially if you have an airbrush I'd recommend that stuff. They also sell white and grey variants.

Best Primer?

Halfords grey primer. its a car primer, flat grey acrylic similar to codex grey, doesn't fill, coats evenly and costs £7.49 for a 500ml can where GW black costs £9.00 for a 400ml can.

very happy with the results so far

Best Primer?

I also use Duplicolor Sandable Primer. Great stuff. I haven't had any problems, and it comes in several colors including a nice dark red.

The white takes a couple of coats, but the red and black go on with a single application.
