Yep. You activate the Carnivean and force it to cast the Spiny Growth on the Shredder (giving the Carnivean 2 fury in the process). Slightly longer answer is that the mechanics for a warbeast casting an animus are basically identical to a warlock casting a spell (but animi casting is not affected by things that only affect spellcasting, like Lamentation).
