Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

I'm still relatively new to Legion and I'm still building up my army. I've been browsing around and I've slowly been coming up with this list. Let me know what you guys think and if any of my choices are bad please tell me. I would like to be corrected now!

Saeryn
-Scythean
-2 Angelius
-Raek
-Shredder
Forsaken
2 Deathstalker
Spell Martyr

Is 3 Heavies one too many Warbeasts for this list? Let me know what you guys think.

Re:Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

I do not play as Legion, but my main opponent does so I'm speaking from being on the receiving end of their trickery.

Saeryn is a great toolbox caster, she has a spell for almost any situation. That said, she isn't going to do too much specifically on her own so just be careful not to leave her by her lonesome. Her defense is decent, but that low armor will be the end of her after knockdown, sustained attacks, or auto-hitting templates.

The Scythean is great for its points, as is the Raek. I do question the use of two Angelii, though. With the proper setup you can pull off the double-tap assassination run by running the first in, hitting your animus to clear the way, and then rush the other in for the kill. The pulse does allow your Angelius to get out of being swarmed, but so does a Scythean's Thresher attack. I like seeing one on the table since that pulse can be great to push people off of an objective, but for its points I think something like the Seraph fills the space of your second one better.

Slipstream is fantastic for adding mobility to heavy hitters like the Scythean and multi-shot ranged attack can be just plain mean. Knock down a caster and unload for the win.

I see what you are saying about the Angelius being good only once, but the thing is that the Angelius is already a 9 point model so what do I gain by adding the Seraph which is only an 8 point model? The Seraph isn't as good overall as the Angelius points wise and lacks the ability to halve ARM. Its the same stat wise I believe and the animus imo is useful, but not as good as the Angelius to clear lanes for which the Scythean can charge through. I'm not too keen at the moment either about two Angelius, but I'm not sure what else I would replace the 2nd with besides maybe another Scythean. 2 Angelius working in conjunction to clear a lane for a Scythean does sound pretty brutal in theory.

The Seraph's animus is game winning. The Seraph can (and will) end the game on it's own once you get into shooting range with strafe + Eyeless Sight and (just ask any Cygnar player) boosted power 12's kills casters.

The Angelus' armor piercing effect only works against medium and large bases, so it's likely that the warcaster/lock will not care that much about it (unless your main opponent are trolls).

Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

The list you bring will be dependent on who you are likely to face. If you're going to be facing lots of high ARM two Angels will probably do fine especially with a Scythean to threaten any retaliation. But if you're facing lots of infintry, their usefulness drops a lot.

The Scythean however is useful ALL the time and with a Seraph slipstreaming it up making it 11" threat 13 if you include 2" reach, its lethal.

Slipstream Scythean 2", charge for 9", 2" reach lol. Boost to hit both initial attacks to ensure your chain attack. Get lots of things in your melee LOS He's a walking slaughterhouse.

So with that said and my complete bias that our Carni chassis heavies win, I'd say drop both Angels and add another Scythean and 1 seraph. Extra point elsewhere.

Also, if you feel your range game is lacking or they are running a lot of infintry, you could always bump one of the Scytheans to a Ravagore.

The raek is a good blightbringer target, and harriers/shredders are as well.

Re:Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

I've been looking more and more at the Seraph since you all brought it up. It actually looks like it could work in more than one situation. Getting a free 2 inches can easily move models out of free strike range and can also help for charging. It seems really useful.

Does it bring anything else to the table as far as shooting? It looks like it could let off a few attacks, but it has a pitiful RAT.

Re:Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

Its RAT is on the low side, but any higher and its 8 points would be a steal as opposed to just very good. Since you don't have to pay Fury for additional shots, paying to boost to hit infantry isn't as big of a deal. Against heavier things they tend to have low defense anyway. You could also use a beast to headbutt someone into submission, beat on it a bit, and then finish the job with the Seraph. Throwing also works in place of headbutt if you have an open fist available.

Legion of Everblight Saeryn 35 points

Slipstream has nearly endless uses and with some creativity it can be a game winner, longer charges aside.

Lets say you're caster is caught out in the open and gets charged by a heavy and barely survives but next round he's pretty much dead meat. Slipstream him out of harms way and full retreat without the threat of free strikes. Then engage with your countercharge. I have baited my enemies with my caster in such ways to great success.

Or, your charge lanes are being blocked by whatever. Slipstream can often times help setup a clear charge lane. Lets say the charge is being blocked by your own model. Can slip them outta the way.

In Scenario play, run Vayl, take a seraph and Angels and watch your opponent cry at all the movement shenanigans you're capable of pulling off. Its awesome!

Yeah, you gotta hit the same target. So its uses vs. infintry dwindle unless they are near a more meaty target. P/S 17 is gonna murder single wound targets.

But reach helps that a bit and its solid threat range. Add in slipstream to boot and all you have to do is position correctly.
