Is a Lord w/Birthsward of Carcassone, Warhorse, Shield, Lance, Gromril Great Helm, V of Confidence for 230pts good?

And for the Men-at-Arms is it better to run them with pole-arm(halberd) or spears?

Bret Lords loadout varies heavily depending upon what you want him to do.

A nice dueling character uses the Virtue of Confidence(reroll hit and wounds in challenges), Armor of Agiluf (WS 10), Gauntlet of the Duel (enemy can't refuse a challenge) and a magic weapon of some sort - I like the Birth-Sword of Carcassone, but it's not the only option by a long shot. The downside of this build is that you're really depending on his armor and Blessing to keep him around because a higher Initiative charcter could quite conceivably kill him first. Subbing in the Gromil Great Helm for the Armor of Agiluf OR the Dawnstone for the magic weapon makes him more surviviable, but less likely to actually kill the enemy. Besides, I like the Gromil Great Helm (along with the Virtue of Purity) on my BSB.

For monster hunting, Virtue of Heroism and a magic weapon is a must.
