				<description><![CDATA[ Thuanlen breathed in softly, watching the target and arrow drift out of alignment as he did. He breathed out slowly, releasing the arrow as it dipped back into alignment. At moments like this he was aware of everything around him; the humming bowstring, the grass around his feet, the trees at the edge of the practice glade. The arrow shook slightly as it buried itself a little off the target's centre. <br /> <br /> Thuanlen frowned and pulled another, but a voice in his ear interrupted. It was Fuir'daen. <br /> <br /> “Still practising?” her voice held a trace of amusement. <br /> <br /> “The elven long bow is considered the finest of all bows and has been protector of our realm for a long time,” his voice relaxed slightly as he loosed the bolt, “It is a noble legacy, just like that sword you carry.”<br /> <br /> Fuir'daen smiled in his ear, “I am not that interested in history myself. For me it is about the physicality. Sword-fighting tests your body like little else. That balance of strength and suppleness is hard to find elsewhere. Speaking of which, our orders have come through. <br /> <br /> “We move?”<br /> <br /> “We move, probably before nightfall. As soon as the Alorien 23rd arrive.”<br /> <br /> Thuanlen hummed softly as he walked to collect his arrows. <br /> <br /> “The Alorien 23rd? Aren't they mostly new recruits?”<br /> <br /> “From what I gather. Straight from barracks, not yet seen combat. I think that's why we're going along. See you in a minute”<br /> <br /> Thuanlen thumbed his ear piece off and shouldered his assault rifle. It nestled neatly on his back, next to the antique bow. It was good to remember where you came from. <br /> <br /> ==================================<br /> <br /> So that was my original idea where the will to create my own ruleset was born. I got help with the text from a member in TacCom.<br /> <br /> I have decided to post my ruleset now when it's not complete. I wanted to do following before posting the ruleset:<br /> <li><br /> [*] Test the air combat rules properly<br /> [*] Test the navy rules in general<br /> [*] Make up some preliminary point values for lists<br /> [*] Write up some amount of background<br /> [*] Invent name for the game!</li><br /> <br /> But honestly my testing time is too small to do this completely so I decided to go with what I have and hope I get help from crowd over here. The ground combat rules are more or less done (there are some open questions sprinkled here and there). Comments and play testing of these would be really welcome.<br /> <br /> ==================================<br /> <br /> Then some the main design points that I've tried to do with these rules.<br />  <br />  Slightly higher model count than epic. <br />  There is two distinct ideas behind this which should make the game play slightly faster than epic. First is the command giving which I've noticed in my games usually takes quite a lot of time. EA the players do this one after another, in this it happens same time. Also aim is to make all things resolve in one roll, especially shooting. EA can take up to 5 rolls, though normally 2 or 3.<br />  <br />  Commitment of the armies.<br />  This is also done in two fold fashion. First is command giving, which is normally done a turn in advance. Thus the plans that one makes have to be thought out a bit in advance. Secondly the dual move system enhances this. It makes IFVs and Tanks behave differently from APCs and unarmoured forces.<br />  <br />  Slightly more "realistic" gear<br />  The game is based to equivalent of 1960 and 70 era of technology. This allows tanks to be vulnerable to infantry while still be useful in the game. Also I've tried to make the close combat a bit more hazardous thing to do compared to EA.<br />  <br />  There is also several things which tries to give certain character to the game such as the scenario (which have pre-battle turns), <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(342);'>d10</span> usage, removal of remnants of formation and naval rules.]]></description>
