I guess they are meaning not immune to free strikes... but free strikes is a melee attack (page 51 in Hordes mkII, "The model makes one normal melee attack"), so... her feat should make things immune to free strikes. And of course sitting with Saeryns card and reading "by melee attacks"

Saeryn's feat is something like 'models in her battlegroup cannot be targeted by melee attacks'. You've got the right idea in that the feat means that free strikes cannot happen but the word battlegroup has a specific meaning.
