Ruins passing partially through a wall, and another question

This came up in my last game of 40k and we weren't exactly sure how to handle it. We ended up deciding that wobbly model in the BRB covers it so we just played it as that but wanted feedback if we approached it correctly and were referencing the correct part of the BRB.

The case in discussion:
I had a tac squad on the ground floor of a ruin. My friend assaulted them with a pack of terminators from a land raider.
He took his difficult terrain test and rolled a 6 allowing him to move the full assault range. 6 inches put him barely in base to base contact.
He moved his IC first (in power armor) through the wall into base to base contact. There was plenty of room for the model on my side of the wall.
He then moved closest to closest into base to base contact.
The part we were discussing was that his terminators were not clearing the wall. Essentially my tac marines were either right next to the wall or about 1 cm from the wall on my side which would place his models directly in the middle of the wall of the ruin with some on his side of the wall but still within 2" of the others . We decided that wobbly model kind of covers this and we moved on.
We we correct in this?

Also same game: He had his land raider in a narrow alley. I ran a single model up to it and assaulted. On his turn we concluded that he had to back up and go another way since he was unable to go around the model because of the alley and that he was at 0 inches away so couldn't tank shock him. you need to be able to move at least 6 inches to tank shock correct? or did we misread how this works?

Please chime in aon both and let me know as we are trying to get the rules completely solid so we can possible try out tournaments at some point.

Ruins passing partially through a wall, and another question

Both WMS and the rules for Assaulting in Ruins cover the first situation. Sounds like you played it correctly.

For the second, there is nothing stopping him from tank shocking in that situation. You have to move at least Combat Speed to Tank Shock (which is up to 6 inches... but that movement is the total distance the vehicle moves, not just the distance to the enemy unit being run down.
