Liquid Green Stuff

Hey Dakka.

A few quick questions about the new liquid GS.

1. Is it worth it?

2. Is it superior for gap filling?

3. Is it easy to work with?

4. Does the Liquid GS damage brushes, thus requiring you to purchase one purely for Gs use?

Any other info is very welcome.

Thanks guys!

Liquid Green Stuff

Yes, it's worth it and it doesn't damage brushes. I wouldn't use a S7 for it, but I do use a nice soft acrylic brush with it. I'd buy one specially for the job.

For filling larger gaps you may need many applications - a hair dryer is REALLY useful to quickly set each layer.

It's pretty easy to work with, out of the pot it's pretty much softened ice cream in consistency. To some extent you can brush it into ridges if you're that way inclined. It smooths with a wet brush very nicely, and it sands with 1200 grit nicely once it's set.

My honest opinion of this product is very high, even compared to similar things like watered milliput or Vallejo's plastic putty. Should have been put out long ago.

Don't have any experience with it (I'm a little timid to try a liquid filler...), but with regards to #4, here's what GW says:

Liquid Green Stuff is the ideal tool for filling in small gaps on a miniature. Because it is water soluble you can use a normal Citadel Paint Brush to apply it (just make sure you wash the brush afterwards). The Liquid Green Stuff will then set in place, filling the gap neatly and efficiently.

Source

Liquid Green Stuff

I can confirm that it washes up as easily as paint while it is wet on the brush.

Do not use a WET brush to apply liquid green stuff. Use a fairly dry brush to apply it and a DAMP brush to push the excess into position.

For filling gaps, GW has a certified winner on their hands. Best thing since sliced bread, imo.

Can't sculpt with it though, so don't even try.

Interesting. I didn't know they had liquid GS. Thats awesome as I'm horrible at sculpting with putty. I'll def be getting some and will let you know what I think of it. Its a great idea!
