Space Marines... I thought that if I needed to justify it, I'd just say that the guys without artificer armor had shields to supplement it (everything else is WYSIWYG).

I'm waiting for some more capes from Anvil Industries and some HH torso armor to finish the last 2 guys... then I'll post the unpainted pics.

They've got sheathed power weapons, relic blades, holstered pistols, grenades, auspex, helmet crests, boot daggers, etc. I treated each of them as a unique character with various mismatched and customized weaponry (like the fluff explains it) instead of the clones that GW gives us. I made the chapter banner a power pack banner... a little bit of a stretch, but like it, and I already have a fully painted canon Honour Guard, so I feel like I can make these guys how I like them.

As always, with this kind of thing, the better they look the fewer complaints you'll get. I know someone who has a Spartan-themed mech Blood Angels army with literally every model in the force equipped with Spartan-style round shields and third-party Spartan-helmeted heads. The painting is gorgeous, so it looks awesome, and I don't think he gets any complaints.
