As with my last attempt to jump in it looks like things are approaching a transitional phase for 40k. My army of choice is Space Marines in general, the Scythes of the Emperor in particular, and from everything I've read online it seems that 6th Edition will be coming along shortly. Complete with the obligatory new Space Marines codex and miniatures. Then on the Warhammer Fantasy side of things my chosen army is Bretonnia. They seem to have the opposite problem of being so out of date that the army book I bought back in 2003 is still current. Even though it was written two editions past.

So, basically I'm going to get some paints and give the small number of marine miniatures I still have a go for practice. After that should I wait for 6th Edition to hit before I buy new miniatures and a Codex or will it be far enough off for the current stuff to be worth it?
