Warhammer 40k: Rise of The Black Templars,

Now that i have your attention, feel free to post here on what you would like to see in the apparently impending codex for the templars,

Personally, id like to see more tanks to be used, or maybe just a whirlwind, or maybe thunder hawks becoming available. Also maybe the addition of hero's outside of Helbrecht and Grimualdus, I mean don't get me wrong there both badass, but it feels kind of lacking. Also i would like to see Neophytes becoming a bit more viable as a option rather then just a meat shield, maybe giving them infiltrate, with snipers, or melta bombs (Not Really) thats all i got for now, so some input from you all would be excellent.

Re:Warhammer 40k: Rise of The Black Templars,

Wrong forum, wishlisting goes in general. Also, "more characters and stuff the newer Marine codices have" is kinda pointless to wishlist, it's happening anyway.

Also, Infiltrate on Neophytes isn't happening either, because they're part of the Crusader Squads. You're not going to be allowed to infiltrate a massive blob of Space Marines and their squires, and since Neophytes aren't fielded independently that's a no-go too. Thunderhawks aren't happening any time soon either. Whirlwinds should already be in the book, but GW took them out because ketchup.

I also vehemently oppose the title "Rise of the Black Templars". "Rise" requires the Black Templars to have been down, after all!

Warhammer 40k: Rise of The Black Templars,

So you want to templars to be able to field a whirlwind, something which isn't worth taking in any other codex? Want them to be able to field Thunderhawks, the apocalypse unit? Want more special characters? Want Neophytes to leave crusade squads and becoming their own units, against the established lore of the black templars?

Whirlwind might happen, but even if it did i doubt it would be worth taking. honestly if i was playing a templar player and they asked to use one from codex marines, i'd let them, their loss.
Thunderhawk, no way. Stormraven, maybe.
Special characters will happen, guaranteed.
Neophytes should remain in crusader squads and shouldn't be viable on their own, scouts are scouts; they should support the marines. tops i could see them becoming like the dark angels scouts which if iirc have marine statline excluding armor.

Overall, I wouldn't be too excited about these changes if they happened.

Hmmm short list..
Vehicle points in keeping with the rest of the chapters (like no more 50 pt no vehicle wargear rhinos)
Sword Bretheren with more decent options, perhaps even allowing them to be attached to Crusader squads as 'advisors'
Actual Sword Bretheren command squads that reflect the feel of the BT rather than vanilla command squads
CC dreads.... really only the BA get them when the BT are really the CC themed SM
Use of the Baal, Redeemer and other vehicle variants....since everyone else stole the Crusader why cant we steal back
Some type of heavy support squad that perhaps has more special weapons per marine since the BT arent devastator happy
Keep the mixed Initate/neophyte bike squads, those were cool
Perhaps an troop choice that is somehow in between Sword Brethern and Cruasder squads
I would say a rhino vairant/upgrade that would allow them to disembark and assault, but then every marine chapter would have to have it and it would be rhino rush all over again for everyone
Keep the option to attach Chaplains everywhere. .. that is really nice

An assault rhino would be nice, but then every marine chapter would HAVE to have them also. I can see going without the whirlwinds, the theme of the BT is good without. My idea for the weapons is not so much devastator style, but more like IG special weapons squads, and perhaps give them the advantage of any special weapons they use gaining assault for its rules. Also with the Sword Bretheren, especially for the command squads, how about allowing any termies to take power weapons instead of power fists, make them a bit more rapid strike. You could even give the Sword Bretheren special power weapons along the lines of the old Black Sword, perhaps an upgraded power weapon that would increase ST by +1 or +2, but you could forego all other attacks and it could be power fist style, or maybe a +1 to ST but if you use it double handed (no bonus for 2nd weapon) it would be +3 instead, not quite PF but not bad as it would still be based on I.
