Background.
A few years ago I did some daemons with the GW washes over mithril silver.



So this time in search of a very quick way to paint IG I stumbled on a Krieg force using washes as the primary painting method on a chaos dwarf forum.

The start model:






I then sprayed it white and a quick skull white paint job:




I then started with devla]n mud on the coat (I also got a bit distracted and forgot to take more photos)


About 1 hour later and 2 layers of:
Coat and dirt - Devlan mud
Uniform, boots: Black (I'm sure there is something wrong with my black it always comes out really thin)
Wood: Ogryn flesh
Mask, gaiters and straps: Gryphonne Sepia
Goggles: Baal Red
Blue bits: Asurmen ble
The wire in the wood is 2 layers badab black and 1 of devlan mud.

Then Krylon Matte Varnish and some flock gives me (a bit shiny due to flash)...

And you got this result with only 2 layers of washes, no highlights, no basecoat apart from the white, nothing?

The possibilities for speed painting are endless!!!

Personally I would have a hard time forking out all that money for a krieger army and then throwing a paintjob like this on them.

That being said...
I have to admit, for a single coat paint job it looks tons better than if you had just used traditional acrylic paints. I would probably recommend this technique anyone who doesn't have patience for 2+ coat paintjobs e.g. a good half of the players out there.

So all in all, good job.

That's not exactly the demographic for Death Korps armies though .

On the method: yeah it's the quickest method with the best results. I wouldn't use it on my Krieg personally as I like to put a little more love into them, but I have used this method to great effect to paint Ork skin, which has saved me countless hours. I was able to paint 100+ Ork skins in just under two hours. On the contrary - it works very well for Orks. This is with a white undercoat, then metals painted, then a Badab Black wash (not thinned at all), then you should be able to work out the rest, or follow the link to the gallery for slightly more detail. It does not look perfect, but it is a good way to paint lots of Orks quickly if, like me, you are a slow painter.
