Hi all, this is my first batrep, so please forgive me for putting you to sleep. On the other hand, if you've had a long, hard day at the office, this could be exactly what you need

First off, the army lists:

Necron army list

Dark Angels Turn One

I forget to try and seize the initiative. 1 Tactical Squad stays behind the fence with his objective, the other moves towards the other objective near the ruins. the Company Master starts heading around the opposite side of the ruins. No Shooting.

Necrons Turn One

I move my Immortal Squad towards his objective by the ruins. I move my Annihilation Barge to intercept his Company Master. I draw LOS and attempt to shoot at him, but I'm out of range.

Dark Angels Turn Two

His Dreadnought deepstrikes just behind my Immortals. He moves his Company Master out of LOS and behind the ruin, and his other squad closer to the objective. During shooting, his Drop Pod misses its shots, and the Dreadnought kills 2 Immortals. I bring them both back though

Necrons Turn Two

My warriors fail to come in from reserve. I teleport my Immortals. I intended to teleport onto the hill in the bottom left corner of the map, but apparently it's difficult terrain, so I didn't bother. Instead, I landed smack bang in assault range of half his army, in between them and his short table edge I move my Annihlation Barge so that its front is facing the Dreadnought and it has LOS. During shooting, I wasn't sure whether to shoot his Company Master or try and take out one of his scoring units. I opted to shoot Tactical Squad #2, killing all members except the sergeant, who falls back just past the Company Master. My Annihilation Barge shoots at his Dreadnought, and I manage to stun it and destroy its DCCW

Dark Angels Turn Three

His sergeant regroups. All his infantry move to assault. During shooting, I think he managed to kill something like 4 immortals and my cryptek with his stormbolter, bolt pistols, and flamer, and that's AFTER Reanimation Protocol saves. He then assaults:

Mindshackle scarabs goes off, and one of the normal marines fails at hurting his own squad. His Company Master directed his attacks at my lord, and only dealt 1 wound. The T5 was too much for the sergeant and the other marine who attacked him. The rest of his tactical squad failed to wound my Immortals! I directed all the attacks I could at the full Tactical Squad, and I dealt 3 wounds, of which at least 2 came from my Overlord. The single Immortal failed to wound his Company Master. After combat, the sergeant fell back, but the rest stayed locked. I just realised just as I'm righting this that I forgot to make him take No Retreat wounds. . We also played it that I couldn't sweep his sergeant since I was still locked in combat, but I wasn't sure.

Necrons Turn Three

Warriors come in the long table edge near the center of the board, and I move them directly towards the objective in the center. I shoot at his Dreadnought with my Annihilation Barge, and I shake and stun it. In combat. I FORGET MINDSHACKLE SCARABS. He strikes first directs all his attacks at the immortals, killing 3 of them, 2 of which were killed by his Company Master. My Overlord had to direct all his attacks at his company master, since he was the only enemy model he was in base contact with. I hit with two attacks, and, needing 2s to wound, I roll like, seriously? My immortals fail to wound. I then roll and get swept.

Dark Angels Turn Four

His lone sergeant moves towards his objective near the fence. His Company Master and 2 man squad move towards his objective near the ruins. They run.

Necrons Turn Four

Warriors move over the hill to try and move his 2 man squad and commander of the objective. If I manage it, that would be freaking awesome. They run as well. My Annihilation Barge shoots at his Dreadnought again, and stuns and shakes it again.

Dark Angels Turn Five

His 2 man squad and Company Master reach the objective. He stays out of of LOS of the warriors

Necrons Turn Five

I move my warriors around to get LOS. about 3 of them are in rapid fire range, but they score no wounds. My Annihilation Barge continues to shoot at the Dreadnought, and rolls with the Tesla Destructor!!! I still only manage to score a weapon destroyed and a immobilised result though.

Game finishes

Post Game Thoughts

Annihilation Barge = MVP. 90 points to tie up a 195 point threat the whole entire game was OUTSTANDING. Honestly, that Dreadnought was the thing I was most scared of in this game, so I was pretty happy that it didn't get to do anything the whole entire game. Overlord NEARLY won me the game, but then he fluffed his attacks and I forgot mindshackle scarabs. Not his fault, but mine I suppose. I wasn't sure what I should've shot at with my Immortals, and I think I might've made the wrong decision, as his commander was what dealt most of the wounds in combat. On the other hand, another flamer shot at my tightly packed squad could have proved fatal as well.

EDIT: Grammar, punctuation etc.

This meant that I could avoid his hard hitting threat fairly easily. I think my friend likes the flamers for against orks in lower point games, and he will probably be taking either melta or plasma guns in bigger games.

I'm not sure if I was really lucky with my rolls for the Annihilation Barge, but between the gauss cannon and the twin-linked tesla destructor, I managed to stun him each turn after the 2nd. He seemed to be pretty happy with a stun result, and he didn't make me re-roll any of them.

Also, I've been reading through my brother's Blood Angels codex, and I saw the rule about Drop Pod Assault. Is that rule the same for all the chapters? Because that would've meant that the dreadnought would have come in on turn 1, not turn 2

I know these take time to write up and you did a good job capturing the flow of the game in text. I think the lack of replies is more due to the shortage of game pictures. If you can download Vassal for times when you do not have a camera, that helps a lot in visualizing the game.

The graph paper drawings are good approximation of actual positions, but remember we all play 40k for the fun of the game and to see some awesome looking minis on the table!
