I've had the basic parts of this army for over a year. I lost my job, had a kid, lost a house and I am finally starting to right the ship I was upon!
that means I can actually work on creating my army that cost me an arm and a leg.

My goal is simple: I want to create an army that isn't the most common, that follows the flavor of the 40k universe, and is modeled/unique down to the most common of
foot soldiers. I'm not the best painter but I am hoping that my skills will increase with critique from those more versed in it. I would like to think that I am decent at modifying,
but once again I am hoping to improve those skills as well.

The look I am going to be working towards is this guy: Magnetic arms, custom Lightning Claws, dynamic base etc..

First up is a Land Raider MK IIB from forge world with the Red scorpion doors.
It's still a WIP. I wired it up with lights via a very simple tact switch circuit. I also added some brass bits and some scribor resin bits.
This will be the personal ride for my Chaplain and his 5 hulking friends in termie armor... not that the skulls would give it aaway. The button for the lights will be hidden under the little skull on the rear hull above the engine mounts. I cut it out so it will be floating ontop of the actual switch.

Did you use a specific sized magnet or drill bit?

A lighting tutorial/how to would be awesome! I'm really interested in learning how to do that.

Am I correct that you magnetized the Marines arms so that you could swap out weapon sets? Did you use a specific sized magnet or drill bit?

Yes I did. All squad leaders and some others will be magnetized. I got the magnets from K & J magnets. I got 500 for under $20.00 with the s/h. I purchased their N35 Disc, 3mm x 1.5mm
It's pretty easy to do. I just use a pin vise to make a small hole, switch to a 3/32 bit that I hand crank for plastic, and then finish with a 1/8th size bit. all figures have the same polarity between
left/ right arms so everything is interchangeable

I will see about doing that. Honestly I'm probably not the best to do that since I just taught myself with google... lol... but I will think about getting one cobbled together.


As for the new stuff that I have been working on.

Here's a Dreadnaught with some tattered banner work



Here are some bases painted up in 40mm, and 25mm... Thoughts? THe really shiny stuff in the cracks is "water" I need to keep layering it in with a toothpick since I can't just dump it in to get a decent water level.






Here's a Squad that is partly assembled in pre heresy armor with red scorpion iconography



and here's a better shot of the MK IIB landraider with the scribor bits on top and on the front side section


So thats it so far this past week or two. If I can I will dig out the trench bases that will be used as the foundation for the display board for this army.

Excellent work, I'd been looking for those dimension sized magnets for awhile now. I have a selection of Rod sized magnets and some rectangular ones I use for side plating magnetizing sponsons on my vehicles.

I'm digging all your other work as well. very nice stuff on here, but i would like to see a further out picture of the dreadnaught if possible?


Here you go. I still need to do more but I'm kinda bouncing around to other projects to let this one simmer on me.



I have such a good wifey! She found my box with the Resin trench flats I have. These are going to be the main basis for my display board and explain the trench works that all my guys have for basing.
I'm thinking of using 3 of the 4 boards. they need to be painted and put together a little bit nicer. but they're a start. Think they will do the trick or should I just carve something out of foam and do some terrain fu on it?

Anyways here a small bit of stuff I got done in the last 2 weeks.

Here's the Dread with some more putty, he's slowly coming along. I think some more pennants/ cloths and he will be done.


The melta guy with more putty work and his backpack finished.



The Sgt from a the Tac squad posted earlier. I sculpted a scorpion tail on the helmet crest as inspired by the FW Severn Loth Honor Guard guy next to him. I'm not sure If I like it though. Any thoughts on keeping it or just scrapping it off?



A Commander of some sort in Terminator armor with some small tweaks. Shoulders are from Dreadnaught legs. I pulled the plasticard off. I didn't like it. I'm trying to think of whats next for the torso on this bad boy.

So thats basically it for now. The fatigue from food poisoning is rather worse than any other part in my mind.
