changing majors

Hello dakka, I'm currrently a biology major and am halfway through my sophomore year, and I am relatively certain I am going to change my major to astrophysics next year. Astronomy has always been a passion of mine, and I have been contemplating making it my intended profession for a while now. The only problem is I will be changing from one of the most promising careers at the moment to one of the least. I figure that if I study what I am truly passionate about, it will be the right decision, but I keep picturing myself graduating and not being able to find a job or graduate school. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about this field and willing to share any advice? I've talked to admissions councelors and people who graduated with a degree in astrophysics, but I'm still hesitant.

I wouldn't worry about graduate school. So long as you have solid grades, test scores, and a decent CV you should be able to find something.

Job avice I can't really speak to.

Do what makes you happy, end of story. Chances are your career path out of college won't involve physics whatsoever anyway.

If the system is available to you run a degree audit report. See if your new degree will delay your graduation, mostly if you care I guess.
Other than that follow your dream, if you aren't an astrophysicist by trade then likely you'll be glad you studied what you love before entering whatever profession you do enter.
