Various Finished figures (img heavy)

Hi all,
To keep em all together, and since I'm a bit of a photowhore, I'll post my finished minis here with links to my WIP thread. At the moment most of what I'm working on are varying characters for RPG campaigns, but also have a big box of SoB I'll be working on, a box of Necrons I've not decided on what I'm doing with just yet, and a big supply of SMs that need to be stripped of the previous owner's 'handywork'.

First one some of you may recognize from a long time back as a work in progress I'd posted, being my first painted mini, and also the first time I used green stuff to add to any model (the tentacles and skulls are all GS)

some of the mold lines are still a little visible, but having been a first go and entirely an experiment this came out pretty good.

Also, feel free to vote on this one in the Chaos Sorcerer gallery

Chaos sorcerer

___________________________________________________________________________________

___________________________________________________________________________________

Hinoshi the Ninja
First D&D character that I converted a mini for. This is a ninja character, the base figure is the ninja mini by Chronoscope, which is a simple standard looking ninja. So I used GS to add a bunch of details, from the headband, the vest, the scabbards wrapped in cloth on hip and back, and the magical horn which the ninja uses like a backpack to store items (rope). Had a lot of fun with this one.

His gallery here for voting

___________________________________________________________________________________

___________________________________________________________________________________

Sisters of Battle,
first three I painted, have more minis in now, just gotta prep and paint and will have a start to an army for 40k,.... finally...

These are unadjusted figurines, with custom-ed bases.

Gallery for the lovely ladies

I'm going to preface this by saying your models are fairly well done, better than average certainly. This might come across as overly critical, but it is just because the areas where you can improve are fairly strait forward.

Your paint jobs all have a slightly messy, mushy feels to them, I think indicating you need to thin your paints and paint in more layers to get smoother coverage. It should take multiple layers of paint to get good coverage, if you can do it in one your paint is too thick. Due to your thick paints the metallic areas look grainy and the colored areas look mushy.

It also seems like you need to load up your brush less as brush strokes and changes in color can be very obvious. Your brush control is good, but not great, especially with that red, which is all over the places and is really stark.

I think the problems with the red are especially noticeable because for the metallics you washed and highlighted, but the reds you just slapped on there. The current color of red you are using should probably just be the highlight, using something darker for the main body. And they really do need to be highlighted.

Also; keep whatever is furry away from your models. I can see fine hairs everywhere - it is probably my biggest gripe with any form of model.

Follow riplikash's advice and you'll be golden! You've made a damn fine start, now refine and clean it up.

@ Riplikash
No need to feel as though you are might come off overly critical, my aim is to improve so I appreciate any and all constructive input.

While painting, I realized that things at this size look a bit better to the naked eye than they do when blown up in a photo. Once I took these pics I started re-evaluating things I'd liked before. The way the armor came out I still like, and yes I definitely layered it more. The red of the bolters I hadn't thought was as sloppy, but, the pictures tell a different tale. I had intended on leaving the bolters the brighter red as a focal point against the darker colors of the rest of the model,.... think I'll have to go back into them, maybe do the black and yellow caution look on the bolters. will see.
Thanks again

@ Eirikr
Again, something I hadn't realized until the pics were taken. All cleaned, and got the furs off the figures.... although not sure what the hell it was from
Thanks.
