Can't Decide Between Circle and Minions

My friend is getting into Warmahordes, and with that we plan to seduce many of my college buddies. I already play Protectorate but want to play a hordes faction just for options of gameplay. I've narrowed it down to two factions, being Circle and Minions.

In the Circle Orboros I really like a Baldur style list with lots of Constructs. I am totally down with the whole earth style theme going here, as opposed to the other aspects of the Circle casters. My only concern here is the mediocre statline on many of the warbeasts.

As to the Minions, I love the Farrow's rules and models. They seem like a solid army but they have so few models available. In higher point games I wouldn't be able to diversify that much, as there is only about ten total choices total.

Recall playing experience and convince me to play one of the respective factions, I'm eager to try the Fury mechanic but I require assistance in choosing from the vets of these armies.

Can't Decide Between Circle and Minions

Unified Theory of Creep says Minions.

Arguement.

You say you want Hordes just for options as you play Protectorate.

You say Circle cause you like Baldur. Unified Threory of Creep says you won't be able to stop at Baldur. You will get your construct army, then someone will give you a cheap Kaya from the box set. Soon you find yourself with some wolves and now you need support to make the new caster work. On and on it goes until "boom" you find yourself catching all the Pokemon, draining your wallet for two full armies.

If you go Farrow, then yeah, you have less "choices" but when you have doubles of all those choices, do you really need any more? You have your Hordes army for options, and you have enough money that you don't have to eat Ramen every day when a new book comes out.

Farrow. I made the same choice when I went with gators. I played Highborn, and siad "hey, alot of Cygnar stuff can work here". So I started getting gunmages and precurssor knights, and that led to p and e Caine, and Blaize, and Gallant, and Sword kngihts, and hunters, and stormclads and stormblades, and p/eStryker/Nemo...it just doesn't stop.

Farrow.

Also keep in account that with fury, you'll likely have 6-7 attacks per turn in melee if you don't boost. A construct list with Baldur or Krueger mitigates the threat of playing Hordes and running hot and that is that your beasts won't frenzy. Some can also cast some of the 'locks spells as well which is good with Baldur or "I'M THE EMPORER!!!!!111!!!!ONE" with Krueger for how much lightning you can throw.

As to the Minions, I love the Farrow's rules and models. You also have some pretty awesome faction buffs that turn the beasts into machines.

How is Arkadius' feat useless against Warmachine? Frenzied warbeasts don't suddenly lose hitting power against warjacks...

Yeah, I'm thinking he may have misread the Arkadius feat. It's actually one of the better feats in Hordes.

After trading away most of my Warmachine stuff, I decided to focus on Hordes factions instead, and started off with Minions, and now I'm working on Circle. In retrospect I wish I would have gone about it the other way around. Having so few options is kind of disappointing, and this will be even more so the case with Pigs.

You have to really like the Warhog, because you'll need to get three of them eventually.

Re:Can't Decide Between Circle and Minions

As i have never played circle i cant really comment to much on them.

But for minions i have a full pig army. I find the pigs to be very deserve and adaptable. The brigands can be used as your main attack force(even more so with Carver). They go hog wild shoot then move in to melee and attack. They can also be tough and fearless.

Or they can be used as a hit and run tactic. Use hogwild to shoot then run away.

Our options for heavy warbeast is the war hog, he isnt a bad heavy he is actually pretty decent. Its just theres only 1 of them so it gets kinda repetitive.

Our light warbeast option is the gunboar. Not to shabby in melee or shooting. So dont be affraid to run him out in the middle of a fight to take out smaller stuff.

We have a dedicated melee unit which are the slaughter houses. There not to shabby. They get +2 on attack rolls on charges and they get a extra die on damaged models. So you can potentially 3 attack die 4 damage die. Which is a decent chunk of damage. Especially with reach adding in that 2". They are also naturally tough.

Bone grinders are so so, They only reason i actually bought them was to support Rasheth in my skorne army with there talisman and the ability to cast dead warbeasts animus.

We have a very good lesser warlock which we can take which is Rosche & Brine. Brine can hit like a truck especially if rosche is near by helping him out. They basically sum up the versatility of pigs. Rosche is a decent ranged unit and brine is a good melee unit. They have a AOE that can be centered around them to take out trenchers.

Our locks are some of the best in the game.
Carver makes Brigands CRA and also makes them unlimited. Id suggest taking 3 full briginds in his list instead of a slaughter house. He is all about his troops his spells support his troops in fights he makes them stronger.

Doctor ark is all about keeping his warbeast alive. He can heal them with d3+1, he can buff them with more str and def. Or he can debuff the enemys warbeast. He is a very good beast supporter.

Sturm&Drang, one is about they both support troops and warbeast along with a couple of damage spells. There not as good as Carver in troop support and there not as good as Ark in beast support. They are the middle ground.

As for minion solos theres alot of good options to consider.
