Going to take the airbrush plunge soon.

Ive done quite a bit of reading and settled on the iwata HP-CS or the badger patriot 105 .... although there is a Talon with 3 different needle sizes......archhhghghghgh

For the compressor, Im looking at the TC-20 from TCP Global. It has some of the features as the Iwata name brand rigs like the smart jet but without the name. It does still have a 2 year warantee which is nice.

I know this has been asked before but opinions before I pull the trigger ?

Thanks.

I would strongly suggest you do not take that plunge... How many vehicle sized models are you painting per week? less than 5? It's a huge investment for something that can be easily replicated, plus getting in there with a paint brush on a vehicle gives you a good chance to practice. This is a very expensive hobby, and these are hard economic times, I suggest practicing your blending and/or learn how to paint with pigments, it is exceedingly less expensive and give you a much higher quality product (my preference, some people can do excellent work with the airbrush, but those people tend to be graphic artists by trade with years under their belt)

Going to take the airbrush plunge soon.

It depends on your situation but I really like my airbrush Iwata HP-CS.

How long have you been painting? The one thing I recommend is paint for a while before getting an airbrush since you will use a lot of the same skill you learned from painting with a brush.

I can now do a lot of things that was harder for me to do with a brush but which is still possible (i.e. gradient, etc)

It is a big investment but for me it was a good one

An airbrush is worth every penny in my opinion. If you can afford it, get one.

The iwata HP-CS is probably the best brush but the Talon is always very popular around here.

Absolutely worth the cost. If you can afford one and you enjoy miniatures, do it. I took the plunge about 5 months ago--no regrets and I'm getting better and better results.
