My idea is this, a wood elf noble on elven steed with the Hunter's Talon (grants sniper) and a Pagent of Shrikes (sniper spite of S4). I would put him in a unit of fast cav, try to snipe a caster or BSB and then flee.

BUT everytime I make my lists, he gets cut. So apparently I like the idea, but he just doesn't seem to make the cut. He's the guy on the bench yelling at me "put me in coach! I can do it".

One particular idea is a Herald on horse, equipped with Fencer's Blades and leading a unit of Horsemen in the flank. WoC, but normally I don't go beyond what I personally think to be the minimum characters I need for 2500 (usually a Chaos Lord, BSB, and Sorcerer) so my list kind of goes around there.

My Orcs and Goblins have this problem though, though not with any specific build. In general, I get a general, BSB, and enough casters to do the necessary magic for the list. Rarely do I go beyond that. If I need a combat monster, it usually winds up being the general.

Brets are an exception. They tend to live and die by their characters.
