I'm an airbrush noob and I find that the paint on models comes off easily when handled. Is the varnishing a necessary step to stop this? I know that you mentioned in your blog, that cleaning the maul was difficult. Overall, good model.

I always use a Matte Varnish as a last step, after I painted the rim of the base and before I start applying static grass.

I will have to try that on the next model I paint. I have an Arlan Strangeways figure sitting on my shelf, which is quite similar to the Brisbane one armor-wise. I'll try to give the plates more definition.
