Hey Dakkaites,

just finished my tutorial on Markus "Siege" Brisbane. All in all a very fun figure, with a great amount of detail and character.

The detailed painting process can be found at:

http://ik-painter.blogspot.com/2012/01/from-zero-to-hero-xiii-major-markus.html

Nice looking model.

I'm an airbrush noob and I find that the paint on models comes off easily when handled. Is the varnishing a necessary step to stop this? After you finished Brisbane did you subsequently use a matte varnish to dull the gloss?

I would pick some darker blue and paint parts of armor to make some blue blends from light blue to darker blue. Looks little flat this way.
And some mold lines are still visible (especially on maul). I know that you mentioned in your blog, that cleaning the maul was difficult. Overall, good model.
But these are just mine opinions and I am not a pro

son_of_marneus wrote:After you finished Brisbane did you subsequently use a matte varnish to dull the gloss?

I always use a Matte Varnish as a last step, after I painted the rim of the base and before I start applying static grass.

hunter_sk wrote:I would pick some darker blue and paint parts of armor to make some blue blends from light blue to darker blue.

I will have to try that on the next model I paint. I have an Arlan Strangeways figure sitting on my shelf, which is quite similar to the Brisbane one armor-wise. I'll try to give the plates more definition.

Cheers,

IK-Painter
