Suggestions for Necrons in Apocalypse games?

Having had a chance to read through the Necron codex and see it on the table, I think it has some serious issues when it comes to fielding it in very large team games, essentially Apocalypse. Now I know that Apoc games are not supposed to be about winning or losing, it's about everyone throwing their stuff on the table and blowing all of it up in a big day-long, fun for everyone epic fight. I understand this. However, there are several units/models/rules in the Necron book that to my reading simply don't scale anything like appropriately for a 30k on 30k, 6 person per team fight, to the point where it can simply be un-fun for one side.

In a regular game of 40k, I think that the Stormlord is perfectly balanced. Night-fighting and rolling to see if lightning strikes between 8 and about 15 targets each turn. In Apoc? It simply becomes an unbalancing nightmare, dropping the night-fighting rules onto 4 tables of battlefield, and having to pause the game while dice are rolled to see if lightning strikes well over 100 units. Solar Pulses also have this issue, in that they can be used to seriously mitigate 6 player's shooting phases, while not hampering their own side's shooting at all.

How do people out there handle this? With no restrictions on FOC, Necron players can bring enough Solar Pulses to ensure that the enemy will always have to deal with night fighting, while their own team will not, having all of their super-heavies sit beyond 36" and lay waste to the enemy safe from return fire of any sort. I'm honestly at a bit of a loss on this one. I don't want Necron players to be limited in what they can take, but at the same time some of these wargear items are simply bonkers for Apoc level games.

Suggestions for Necrons in Apocalypse games?

Well, in my mind it is up to the group. Some might simply not let Necron players use such items, or the Necron players may not use them of their own vohilition.

Alternatively you could give all the items ranges. Say, 60" or so? A big enough range to get from one corner of your average 6 by 4 table to the opposite corner. In apocalypse with bigger tables, only a section of the battlefield (a large section of course, but if you spread your forces out it shouldnt be TOO bad)
