It does seems the best way to do it, is use some Green stuff for the flesh and some sturdy plastic for the claws.
Thanks for giving me the idea of converting some Flayed ones Necronmike, as I have some extra warrior kits and I am not shelling out £25 for 5 flayed ones. You routine (though I have only done this a handful of times)

Cut the joint you want
File
Pose, then pinvice where you will need pinning
Pin, check gaps
Sculpt GS around gaps.
Tidy up
Pray it looks good.

The only reposed one I was vaguelly happy with to photo was this one:



I would do something like this method. The warrior legs shouldn't need much work but the arms will cause some problems. when I try this I will post my results.
