New to Fantasy, starting Daemons.

I've been playing 40K for some time now, and am looking to get into Fantasy. My FLGS has these challenges/events every once ina while they call "Call to Arms", which is essentially a contest to build(and paint) an army for the respective game system in two months. The next one they will be starting is for Warhammer Fantasy, at 1500 points. I'm thinking of joining and summoning the Daemons of Chaos to aid me. What would you suggest for a Daemons army at 1500 points?

This is what I've been thinking of so far.

Skulltaker
Herald of Tzeentch, Spell Breaker
40 Bloodletters, Musician, Blood Reaper,Standard Bearer
20 Pink Horrors, Musician, Iridescent Horror, Standard Bearer, Icon of Sorcery
20 Daemonettes, Musician, Alluress, Standard Bearer
5 Seekers of Slaanesh

This comes out to 1475 points.

As I don't play Fantasy yet, I have no idea if this would be any good or not. I'm also trying to do this on a budget, and that's why I based it around the battleforce box. Also how wide should I make my formations?

Actually, this list looks solid. If anything, I might drop the daemonettes in favor of a few fiends or flamers. You made the right picks here.

-Jim

New to Fantasy, starting Daemons.

Pretty solid start, and welcome to the Demons of Chaos!
Drop skulltaker for a normal herald of khorne; the Hatred the standard herald give the bloodletters in very nice in a 1500 point game.
Fill up your last 25 points by picking up Master of Sorcery on your tzeentch herald. Lore of life is pretty good with demons, and the lore attribute lets you bring back a model for every spell cast.
Finally, drop the unit champs from the horrors, and dmonettes. The extra attack isn't normally worth the points.
Keep the bloodletter champ though so he can take a challenge you don't want your herald in.
If you find your self with some unused points, just get more core demons. You could build a unit filler for the odd mini or 2 in order to fill out the unit.

I'd run the bloodletters 10 wide for the horde rules, and everything else 5 wide to keep ranks intact a little longer.

Good luck with the Demons.

I was planning on picking up a Herald of Khorne later on for the very same reason cricketofdeth pointed out, but I don`t have the money to order the Forgeworld one which is the model I want to use(also I don`t think it would get here in time to finish the competition). I really do like the Lore of Life, I haven`t looked at the spells in the BRB yet, but it does sound like a good plan.

However I offer the following.

Get a herald on the Daemonettes, for Asf for the unit(rerolls to hit for most targets) Not to mention she shread rank and file. Keep the champion in the daemonette unit.(Use this for throw away challenges to keep herald alive. Siren standard on daemonettes prevents you from getting stand and shot and allows easy gutting of movement based elf armies. Icon of endless war is also good. Drop Icon of sorcery, you will likely not not have need for those dice if you have a loremaster.

Lore for herald. Cricket recommended life, Good choice, I prefer light though. Try life, if it works well for you then try light and see how that goes, there are 3 spells in ther that can turn those hoirrors as a mage bunker into a combat unit.

I was planning on picking up a Herald of Khorne later on for the very same reason cricketofdeth pointed out, but I don`t have the money to order the Forgeworld one

Get some green stuff or some armor bits to spice up a basic bloodletter to use as a herald. Once you get the FW one, use the pimped bloodletter as a unit champ, or to just sit in the unit and look cool.

wow dude you and I see a lot eye to eye. However I offer the following.

Get a herald on the Daemonettes

Thanks man!
I based my advice on the OP being a new player. The herald of slaanesh is a solid hero in a unit with the siren standard, plus give the HoS the siren song, and you have a very fast flexible unit on the field.
But for a new player, I think the HoK would be better, as bloodletters can go toe to toe with more units than the 'nettes. The 'letters also provide a hard counter for low AS units such as WoC, and are very good for KB'ing an annoying hero for you.
The demonettes, are amazing at chewing through hordes, and elite units with an AS of aound 4+ish. At 2000 points I'd beef up the demonettes, and pick up the herald for sure.

I prefer light though. Try life, if it works well for you then try light and see how that goes, there are 3 spells in ther that can turn those hoirrors as a mage bunker into a combat unit.

Light is an awesome lore as well, good call.
