New Tyranid Apocayplse Formation: The Gorger

Gorger

Unit or Formation: 1 Bottom Half and 1 Top Half

WS....BS....S.....T.......W......I.....A.....LD.....SV.....PTS
..1........-......1 ....8.......10.....1....1....10.......3+.....500

Special Rules:
Eternal Warrior, Instinctive Behavior - Feed, Synapse

Swallow whole:
Deep strike (using full 2d6 scatter) the Bottom Half Of The Mouth anywhere on the board and rotate it freely (reduce distance to prevent any mishap) After the deep strike is completed place the Top Half of the Mouth anywhere within 12”, but the base most be placed in the direction and position as Top Half of the Mouth’s base, facing each other (if the model miscatters, place it back into reserves). Any units (excluding titans or gargantuan creatures) must take an initiative using 1d6. Any model that fails is swallowed whole and is removed of the board with no saves of any kind allowed. Both Bottom Half and Top Half then stay on the field until the end of the enemies assault phase. At the end of the enemy’s assault phase place both Bottom Half and Top Half back into reserve. This formation may then use Swallow Whole again.

Devour:
Deep strike (using full 2d6 scatter) the Bottom Half Of The Mouth anywhere on the board and rotate it freely (reduce distance to prevent any mishap) .After the deep strike is completed place the Top Half of the Mouth anywhere within 12”, but the base most be placed in the direction and position as Top Half of the Mouth’s base, facing each other (if the model miscatters, place it back into reserves). If there is a pice of terrain between the halves, then it takes 2 S10 AP1 Hits (Count as appropriate: Forests AV 6, Emplacements AV 8, Ruins AV 10, Fortresses AV 14. Be reasonable.) Both Bottom Half and Top Half then stay on the field until the end of the enemies assault phase. At the end of the enemy’s assault phase place both Bottom Half and Top Half back into reserve. This formation may then use Devour Terrain again.

One with the ground:
Any Str D hits counts as Str 10 against these models. Also, this formation is immune to any psychic power or weapon that removes these models from the board or removes all of the models wounds.

Fluff:
Bio engineered by Hive Fleet Jormungandr and named during the invasion of Yofto Prime. The aptly named "Gorger" was first encountered by a catachan recon squad after being swallowed by the beast whole, along with the rest of the Night Tree Jungle. Capable of devouring entire squads whole, the Gorger digs underground using pores in its carapace to loosen the ground before pushing it way through. Propelled by trillions of microscopic legs all over its body, the Gorger moves swiftly and strikes with the force of a volcano. While it is rarely sighted on the battlefield, the size of such a beast is truly a terrifying reminder of the Tyranids evolutionary capabilities. Unfazed by lava, unhindered by ice, and unstoppable once underground, it is a leviathan of the earth.

Making your own.

Top half and bottom half should have a width of 8" and a length of 2"
Height doesn't matter. Jaw is allowed but inside area must be at least 8" wide

A couple things wrong with it, First thing is in the brb you can't have more than 10 wounds. Second, it has both Synapse and an instincive behavior?

I like the concept of an overgrown Mawloc!

New Tyranid Apocayplse Formation: The Gorger

So, I can tell about the Synapse and IB, It has an instinctive behavior, but other bugs around it have access to the synapse web.

A problem: What initiative are vehicles? And, on only one D6, Units like genestealers and striking scorpions will almost never get eaten. was this part of the plan?

Some Fluff: A Hive Fleet was invading a planet, but lacked enough biomass for a full fledged invasion. It designed a creature, like a mawlock, but much larger. The idea behind the design was to clear forests for the vast amount of biomass, as the Gorger has a enourmous gullet. But then they turned it on the cities once the forests were cleared, and discovered that the Gorger was immensely successfull in wipeing out indigenous populations. They refitted the enourmous worms with a harder carapace on the head so that it could withstand some of the hardest hits.

And to go along with this fluff, a rule suggestion:

Devour Terrain: (I did simply re-purposed swallow whole for this)
Deep strike (using full 2d6 scatter) the Bottom Half Of The Mouth anywhere on the board (reduce distance to prevent any mishap) After the deep strike is completed place the Top Half of the Mouth anywhere within 12”, but the base most be placed in the direction and position as Top Half of the Mouth’s base, facing each other (if the model miscatters, place it back into reserves).
