So for example, a sergeant is a sergeant, but he is also a battle brother. They're all brothers on the battlefield, I doubt any would refer to each other as sir unless it's a chapter master or something like that.

All Space Marines are battle brothers and refer to others like this to.
Only difference being Chapters and ranks.
