[BFG] What's the best way to transport BFG ships?

Like the title says, what do the fine folk here suggest for the transport of Battlefleet Gothic ships? Especially with the cruisers--seems like a lot of thin plastic bits that would bend or break very easily.

I use loose foam from my other carrying cases(GW large model sections) in plastic boxes.

One option is to simply not glue your cruisers and battleships to their flight stands.

Grey Templar wrote:Escorts need to be glued...

I found a way to avoid that. I clipped off the thin top bit of the stand, and then widened the hole on the model with a drill. It only needs to be ever so slightly wider and the stand fits in really well.

I use a really old GW eggshell case. Seems to work very well.

What's the best way to transport BFG ships?

NEW BFG player here, long time mini collector, magnitizer etc...

For small ships, I put mags on the stems and the bottom of the ships....works fine. heck, even works for plastic cruisers.

for big metal ships (i.e. battleships) after looking at a lot of options, I went with stands from cor-sec engineering.
http://corseceng.com/omni-stand/

If you are unsure, just order a couple to check them out - I am very happy with mine (will post pics maybe over the weekend).

What's the best way to transport BFG ships?

For my Eldar Fleet (all metal!) I put thin rare earth magnets in the flight stand disc on the bottom. My case has a sheet of steel fitted in the bottom so all the ships stay in place with no foam needed. I have handles built into the steel sheet so it slides out of the plastic box and I can remove the ships as needed.

What's the best way to transport BFG ships?

For actual transport, I currently have a shoebox with bubble wrap in the bottom.

I lay my big ships down in it (the ones still on stands) and then put a layer on top of that. I have my smaller ships and fighters etc. in a smaller box that fits on top of that.

long term, I am magnitizing all my ships, and will put them in some sort of foam case (depends on the size of my fleet).

I use "pistol cases" found at various sporting goods stores (or walmart, if in the states).

If you do not have access to these, simple eggcrate foam, or even pluck foam trays would work well (especially if not on stands).

Eventually, I will post pics once I get my fleet case done, but it may be months due to other project (i.e. 40k) backlogs...

Best of luck to you!
