Iron Warriors

Pros: Cool color scheme, easy to paint, I like their tactics, and they can be used with my other CSM as long as I cut off Imperial Icons.
Cons: I don't like the gold and silver combo, I'd rather just have silver. Also, Iron warriors are a tad overdone.

Alpha Legion

Pros: Cool color scheme, fun to paint, interesting fluff, and you don't see them very often.
Cons: Cannot be used with other Chaos Space Marines (their color scheme changed) and I don't care much for their tactics.

Anyway.

You can use and CSM for any CSM codex technically. If you want to use your alpha legion as CSM, you can.
