How explicit does the Slaanesh fluff get?

Just wondering if there's any explicit novels out (either WHFB or 40K) and where GW tends to draw the line . . . I've read through 90% of Sigvald (not overly impressed) and there's not much to it. Basically, I've got some fluff ideas and was curious how, erm . . . far, I could take things without it becoming "too much" for the established tone and feel of the setting.

Also, I just really like Slaanesh and am fishing for BL recommendations: any novels out there that do Slaanesh and do it well?

However, there are some novels that are more grimdark than the more family-friendly tabletop game when it comes to violence, so I thought if there was an arena for more adult exploration of Slaanesh then I could find it in BL publications. Basically I was posing a theoretical question to myself: if I write my own novel which features a Slaaneshi follower, how explicit would I be able to make it for BL to still publish it? I was hoping there are some novels already out there to give me an idea of how current authors are treating the subject matter and themes.

How explicit does the Slaanesh fluff get?

The most they've done(that I've seen) was Eye of Terror for 40K. A woman(who turns out later to actually be a Daemonette) gets naked and cuts off her breasts(she enjoys it, because Slaanesh is all about experiencing anything and everything), but it all happens in a different character's nightmare, anyway.

For fantasy, there was an implied mutation down there. A noble has a woman brought to wherever he was staying and drops his robe. She screams in terror, end scene. Don't remember the book, but it may have been one of the earlier Gotrek and Felix novels.

BL is pretty strict about what goes on in their books, so sexual things are implied, but then again Slaanesh isn't mostly about sex(that's such a narrow and cliche view of Slanesh, actually).

How explicit does the Slaanesh fluff get?

n0t_u wrote:Well it's not all sexual, seeking riches, fame, power and corruption of a pure soul are part of it too.

Naturally. All of the above are important aspects to any mortal seeking the power of Chaos, but one of the draws of Slaanesh (at least to me) is that out of the four he seems to be the most multi-faceted and internally complex Chaos God to base a protagonist around. Of course, there's room for fully fleshed out followers from all of them, but the Dark Prince stands out the most to me. I'm not planning to have my character be shallow or one-dimentional, i.e. all lust and depravity. More than anything, my themes for him will be highly tragic and centre around his fears and, well, humanity. He, like all the poor souls addicted to Chaos, is a victim.

It's just that he also likes to enjoy the ride by and doing with a and inside many, many , too!

How explicit does the Slaanesh fluff get?

I just read Blood of Aenarion and while I don't remember details (I apparently for get such things rather quickly), I seem to recall some parts going pretty far.
Ultimately it comes down to what exactly you are trying to portray and how you choose to go about doing so. In writing you can go quite far without being necessarily explicit, if that makes sense. If you intend to base it around the more sexual side of Slaanesh (which it doesn't seem like you are) then I can see that possibly creating problems. But there is literally so much to go with when writing about Slaanesh, and so many ways to go about doing it that in almost every circumstance you can probably work your way around it while still getting your message across.

Personally I loved the Sigvald book and it's what got me to go about making my Slaanesh WoC army in a different way. It seemed to go more about exploring the "experience" part of Slaanesh. If you haven't done it... do it! Too many people focus on the obvious parts of Slaanesh (sex, drugs, etc) and it's what I think causes so much hate towards the god when in fact theres a lot more to him. I personally have a rather obnoxious amount of fluff and background for my Slaanesh army. Actually, I think I have one of the stories in the fluff section, but I stopped posting since there just wasn't much feed back. If you want I could post some stuff (or pm you) if you want ideas.

Ultimately I think it will all come down to just how well you can write, and how you choose to go about doing so.

One of my friends are currently writing a short story about a Slaanesh army attacking a town which is defended by Empire troops. Once they win they seek the spoils of war -- gold, women and children. It's pretty darn sick and perverted yet it is written with style and keeps its theme.

I will ask him if I can post it here once it is done.
