I don't think the ammo belt around the neck is ahistorical. A quick Google search will reveal quite a few photos of German soldiers with ammo belts around their neck, at least one of which is pretty iconic (It's in pretty much any History Channel documentary ever, and is probably what a lot of the minis with ammo belts around their neck are influenced by).


As far as the minis go, they aren't horrible, but I've seen better as well. It's uncomfortable as hell, but not ahistoric... it's even done today in some cases (though not for long distances).
