How to paint yellow/black chevrons

Hi guys I am wondering how you cleanly paint the yellow and black (or some other color) chevrons on dozer blades and siege shields. Do you just carefully mask it all or do you free hand with a strait edge? I've seen some really good examples and it seems to be commonly done. I have just never seen a tutorial for it.

Thanks

~Casey

Masking tape gives great lines, just basecoat black and paint the yellow. or opposite if that suits you.

How to paint yellow/black chevrons

You pretty much have to do yellow first then the black as you can have troubles getting a good coat of yello over black

I go
1.white undercoat,
2.yello, then I mask a series of strips of masking tape so they are edge to edge, then pull off every second one
3. spray black, dry,
4. remove masking tape
6.Profit !

It's VITAL that you get the lines as parallel as you can and as evenly spaced as you can. The eye can pick the slightest inaccuracy from space !

How to paint yellow/black chevrons

I picked this up in my meager years of being chained to this hobby...

you can make a mask or paper stencil (tracing paper is good for this) on a cutting mat that has the measuring lines on it, just draw the lines on the making tape and cut it out to the size you need it to be and they will be perfectly parrallel. i have used it a couple times. Its good stuff.
