N:ew Battlefleet Gothic Player-- necrons.

I'm playing them, that is, as I always liked the race in 40k, and I thought I'd give them a try in BFG as well.

My question is, what mistakes should I try to avoid, and how do I counter eldar/imperial beam spam, as my younger brother will have built a list specifically designed to kill necrons (tons of dorsal beams I'm sure)

I do know that the tomb ship isn't the best value, to go with scythes instead, and that my escorts are rather flimsy, but other than that I don't know much.

Right now my idea is to use a lot of the smaller escort ships, take advantage of the single shots of beams, and sue the fact that even a couple hits can ruin an eldar's day to turn the tide, and also avoid that nasty VP table I have.

Necrons are awesome. Avoid extending your escorts into a position where they will get destroyed. From my experience, they can be easy victory points if you put them in a bad position.

Eldar can be dangerous because they have a nasty alpha strike. Try to understand their ships and know which ones will be a problem for you.

The nice part about fighting Imperials is they can't run away that easily and you have a super fast All Ahead Full so you can get in there quickly. Beware of the torpedo "shotgun" because most of their ships have a bunch of torps.

I actually really like the Tombship. Give it a try and I think you will end up liking it. I am one of the few who don't mind taking a Shroud in larger games because the leadership bonus can be really nice. Keep it protected.

Escorts will be pretty fast and can catch up to Eldar well. Still, Eldar will destroy them so fast, it isn't funny. Use their escorts to finish off wounded ships that they didn't disengage or strike when you will know it will be overwhelming force.

Keep an eye on your ships. Don't be afraid to disengage when you think that ship will be destroyed the next turn.
