4 Eldar Lists for Review

Alright, finally broke down and got ArmyBuilder -- tired of ink, paper and calculator. So here I send before y'all four seperate drafts of 1750pt Eldar armies with (I hope!) distinct roles. I'm looking for advice on how to best tweak or whether to scrap an army altogether in favor of a different option. I have _plenty_ of sets and such, so I can make at least two of these now. Buddies convinced me to start out last year with Apoc, and so I have many metal and plastic models to build. Output format (Created with Army Builder® - Try it for free at http://www.wolflair.com).

EDIT: I have taken into account the advice below as of 20-21 Mar 2012 and have adjusted lists accordingly, both in content and in setup; should read easier now.

"The Culling Blade" (Anti-MEQ)

Hope I didn't break any major rules -- if so, please advise so I may alter my post. Trying to be competitive without being too cookie-cutter (doubt that'll happen) and also trying for Altansar and Yme-loc (Apocalypse w/ Titans, Super-Heavies) themed armies. Also, please vote on which you'd rather field in your gaming region and why, or which you'd not like to face across the table... I know I'm asking a lot for just starting out, but I have faced mainly Space Wolves, Death Company and Black Templars in my first few games and came away with a sense of foreboding that a few YouTube batreps later is starting to fade -- I'm just looking for a viable anti-Marine army that can still hurt hordes when needed. I hate having the enemy come down in my backfield w/ Scouts or Dreads or Termies or Daemons, et cetera ad infinitum... Thank you again for any/all advice -- happy hunting!

4 Eldar Lists for Review

Just off the top of my head I would advise against the Dragons in a Falcon. Falcon wants to be sitting back with a scoring unit holding an objective taking pot shots. Whereas Dragons want to be rushing the enemy armor.

Also I would recommend some more redundancy for Heavy Support. I've always had two Prisms perform far better than one.

Re:4 Eldar Lists for Review

Yes, alright -- edited each list to replace Dragons' Falcon w/ Serpent. Made minor tweaks for redundancy as suggested, especially for Prisms. Essentially they are now fresh army drafts. Thank you for the assistance already!

The 5+1 DA in the Falcon (Exarch w/ SS & Defend) is meant to, as you said, sit on an objective and hold it, taking potshots at enemies; has defensive EML and Shuriken Cannon to hopefully fend off assaults... /wince

4 Eldar Lists for Review

To All:

The general idea I had, at midnight if I recall, was to have a couple armies ready to go in the 3 army cases I have for Apoc and be able to field any one based on what the enemy tends to bring to the table... I am fully cognizant of the fact that the best competitors are the ones where their army doesn't change, but the player adapts strategy and tactics from their own skillset. Yes, I got that part.

I was trying to bring a little modularity to it, since I have quite a lot of models I figured I could make at least two armies that might even complement each other in a high-point Apoc game. I am in no way complaining about the critiques I've received, but I am still looking for why someone would either field one of these armies or, conversely, not wish to be facing one of these armies. I'm looking for an opinion on what does work, and if the best choice is not there, perhaps you could offer up more than just a "Take Guy 'A' out of Army #3." Please, and thank you.

~B

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Smitty0305 wrote:you dont want an anti 1 thing army, you want an anti everything that can counter everything.
Roger that, any suggestions?

your first list you forgot to include the HQ.
Actually, no; but you're correct, the setup was confusing and hid the Farseer -- fixed it.

The Anti Meq list is decent if you take out yriel for a regular autarch.
I'm assuming you meant the anti-mechanized; I intend for Yriel to do more tank-popping than a regular Autarch typically does, but I will try it in a game and plus-up another unit, too.

the anti cover, your seer council needs to be above 6 or it wont do much.
Removed Dragons, increased Council to 7+Farseer

And this format is really annoying to read, just put the unit and upgrades, nothing else.
Fixed.

4 Eldar Lists for Review

the problem with your first list, is you have a very mobile army, with a very unmobile troop unit. This is OK if you use them as objective campers. I personally dont like wraithguard because they are expensive and generally bad. If you use wraithguard, you generally bring a screening unit of harlequins to give them an anti charge and a 4+ cover save. IF you bring a fortune seer this is a pretty cool unit.

Also, never bring Bright Lances, ever. There a waste of points. On your close combat units, bring a cannon because you dont need range , your wave serpent is already close. On troops bring scatter lasers.

I dont bring holo fields on falcons, but if you want to go for it.

I dont understand why you have 5 harlequins, what will they do?

Always bring prisms in pairs because the str6 ap3 template is why your bringing them. The str10 ap1 template is pretty amazing as well.

If you bring storm guardians bring 2x flamers with a warlock with a flamer. Thats a triple flamer squad that wrecks face, especially with doom support.

Dont give an autarch a reaper launcher ever, Ive tested it and its aweful, a fusion gun is much better.

Your last list is cool, play test it and see how it goes, I can see it working well.

ok why does your farseer have a bizillion powers lol. If you want that kind of farseer just bring eldrad, because ur wasting alot of points with that farseer. The only thing the farseer needs is doom, everything else is a complete waste.

Yriel is Bad, dont bring him, he wont do anything except die to a str6 weapon.

Besides that you have alot of wasted points in Holofields and alot of wasted points in spirit stones that arnt needed at all except on the falcon.

You have a solid eldar list. The only problem is that its not a maximized Eldar list. At 1500 Points Im able to bring 9 Tanks with 3 fire dragon squads.

Your sinking alot of points into stuff that isnt good, and you need to fill the 3 elite slots.
