Painting duh boyz

I've been through about 5 threads maybe a few more about painting orks watched a vid on miniwargaming yada yada and I just have to ask.
How would you paint orks if I were to prime them chaos black (GW primer) and then go from there? I used about...4 different paints just to get the red for my blood angels and I liked the idea of the orks being different colors but I don't know how feasible that is...I know painting can become a burden quickly and I have about...3k points of grey knights to go through as well so I've got a little over 200 models and couting to paint...so long story...well...long
How do you paint some of duh boyz for duh big waaagh!

First off, don't buy GW primer, it's too expensive. Also, you don't have to use a black primer. White is best for lighter colors. So, I would use white primer.

I used white primer until they were out one day and I got black... Yeah yellow on black takes more applications (read: effort) than I want to put in. Now I have a bunch of ugly marines :( The white primer just forces you to do your own shading detail.

My ork boys were all white primered, if this helps any:

Painting duh boyz

I grab a hand full of my boyz after a good black prime and just do about 20 base green, the move on to bolt metal, repaint black spots and touch up mistakes, then go with the highlight colours and finish with shading leaving teef and eyes for last. Basically all my orks are in black and browns with colour to tell my different upgrades (shootas are bad moons, 'ard boys are red) with lots of silvery bits sticking out. I go for a dirtier more battle hardened look to mine and think they look pretty spiffy if I do say so myself.

Hmm I like the darker color black gives whites and anything bright are always a pain but I like a deep kind of camouflage green. Is it bad to uniform orks like making them all this shade or that?

honestly i stay away from base coating black.. i use the main color for my base coat, most come in spray form.. it helps with horde armies.. i would use hunters green from krylon to base my boyz if i am doing green ones.. then highlight as normal
