BRB If you are learning fantasy then the iob book is much better since you get lost in pages of fluff while looking for rules.

Getting into WHFB, I actually recommend the big book over the tiny one. It is much more expensive to start that way, but if you know you are getting into the game, the big book gives you a load of resources to play with that you simply don't get in IOB.

The art is fantastic, the scenarios inspiring, and the fluff gives you enough to make an educated decision on what army to start. I personally play for narrative, so all the extra stuff really makes the book for me.

Plus, if you don't want to do Skaven of Helves, IOB is pointless.
