I think JJ is about as good as the UFC gets, physically, mentally and technique wise (barring maybe St Pierre in his hayday).

But I also think Evans reminds me of an experienced Couture, its sheer physical/agility ability VS experience and focus.

Edging JJ, just because I think he'll pull something off, that RE wont see/counter. Also RE hasnt fought anyone/of note in a few months. TO? meh, a money fight was all imho.

Been building for months and months from a MMA PoV, anyone follow this at all?

MMA is the best combat sport out there imo, because it is the most practical, but it still has deficiencies in a street fight. If I'm fighting for my life, I will try to break fingers, gouge eyes, crush testicles, and all of the other illegal stuff you're not allowed to do in a combat sport. It's kind of silly, fighting for fun, and beating the crap out of one another as they do.


Nope it isnt the best combat sport out there for your reasons (practical?), its good because it can (and that is such a subjective "can") teach you all of the basic combat techniques one needs in a street fight (barring having a shotgun or being a Psycho)

i.e.
Stand up strikes (punching)
Grappling (close up tech)
Take down
Side control
Ju Jitsu (breaking any ball/socket joint)
Ground n pound

Let me get this right out of the way - if you are in a street level fight for your life MMA tech might and I mean might , demolish your OP, if you are sobre and 100% ready.

But ing eneral having basic technique such as Army training or Boxing will get you so much further than throwing hands like JJ (even though I think hes great - any Ref in a Street fight??? nah)
